This morning, Upper Darby Paramedic Rescue became the first EMS agency from Delaware County approved by our regional EMS office to carry Blood Products on our EMS vehicles. In partnership with Life Plasma Blood Centers, our Paramedic units will now be carrying O+ Packed Red Blood Cells along with Liquid Plasma. Unused products will be cycled back to the Blood Bank every 36 days for reallocation. Paramedics will be participating in training over the next three weeks with an anticipated implementation date of approximately October 1, 2026.

Congratulations to our Medical Director, Dr Herbert N. Schiffer. Dr Schiffer was honored tonight at a Township meeting in Chester County for his life saving efforts at a serious accident several months ago. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing and dedicated Medical Director who is actively involved. Dr. Schiffer spends time working on our units with our EMTs and Paramedics on a weekly basis. Congrats Doc!
