Mississippi State Medical Association We are the physicians who care for Mississippi.

The Mississippi State Medical Association is the largest physician advocacy organization in Mississippi, representing nearly 5,000 physicians, residents and medical students. For over 150 years, MSMA has served the state's physicians as a trusted health policy leader and professional development resource. We advocate for our members and their patients at the state and federal levels, provide information on healthcare legislation and regulatory changes, offer professional development and continuing medical education opportunities, and promote campaigns for public health.

The best treatment plan only works if patients understand it. A few simple habits can make a big difference:
✔️ Use plain language and skip the jargon
✔️ Try the teach-back method: ask patients to explain the plan in their own words
✔️ Focus on the 2–3 most important next steps
✔️ Ask "What questions do you have?" instead of "Any questions?"
