TWO YEARS LATER… AND WE’RE STILL HERE. ❤️
It’s hard to believe that Hurricane Helene was two years ago. Two years since the devastation, the heartbreak, the uncertainty, and the overwhelming need that brought so many people together.
And from the very beginning, Pay It Forward Network was there.
We didn’t know then just how much that moment would change us.
Over these past two years, we have met thousands of people. We’ve walked into communities not knowing what to expect and walked away carrying stories we will never forget. We’ve met people who were hurting, people who had lost so much, and people who—despite having so little themselves—still wanted to help someone else.
Along the way, strangers became friends. Friends became family. And some of those relationships became lifelong connections.
But this journey also taught us something else.
Sometimes, in order to continue moving forward, you have to let go. We’ve had relationships come to an end — some naturally, and some that were long overdue. As painful as those moments can be, they were part of the journey too. Not everyone is meant to walk with you forever, and sometimes making room for the right people means finally closing doors that should have been closed a long time ago.
Through every high and every low, Pay It Forward Network kept showing up.
We’ve been blessed to be involved in efforts that resulted in multiple campers being donated to families in need, giving people a place to sleep, a place to feel safe, and a little bit of hope when they needed it most.
We’ve delivered food, supplies, necessities, and resources to families who needed someone to care.
And when Christmas came, we remembered the children.
We brought toys, gifts, and Christmas cheer to kids who had already experienced circumstances no child should have to face. Because sometimes a toy isn't just a toy. Sometimes it tells a child, “Someone sees you. Someone cares about you. You haven't been forgotten.”
Looking back, we realize this journey was never just about hurricane relief.
It was about people.
It was about showing up when it would have been easier to stay home.
It was about giving when there wasn't always enough to give.
It was about meeting someone for five minutes and somehow creating a friendship that lasts for years.
It was about the hugs, the tears, the laughter, the sleepless nights, the hard conversations, the unexpected blessings, and the moments when we wondered if what we were doing really mattered.
And then someone would say “Thank you.”
And suddenly, we knew.
It mattered.
Two years later, Hurricane Helene is a memory for many. But for the people whose lives were changed, the story didn't end when the storm passed.
And neither did ours.
We are incredibly grateful for every person who has stood beside us, donated, volunteered, opened a door, shared a post, delivered supplies, offered a hand, or simply believed in what we were trying to do.
To the thousands of people we have met along the way: thank you for becoming part of our story.
To the friendships that will last a lifetime: we cherish you.
To the relationships we had to leave behind: thank you for the lessons.
And to the families and children we have been blessed to help: you are the reason we keep going.
Because when the cameras leave, when the headlines change, and when the rest of the world moves on…
We believe in still showing up.
That is what paying it forward means.
Not doing something once.
Not helping only when it's convenient.
But continuing to care long after everyone else has forgotten.
Two years later, we're still here.
Still serving.
Still loving.
Still helping.
Still building relationships.
Still making memories.
Still believing that one act of kindness can change a life.
Hurricane Helene may have tested communities, but it also showed us the incredible strength of people coming together.
And as long as there are people who need a hand, a meal, a safe place, a Christmas gift, a little hope, or simply someone to say “I've got you”…
Pay It Forward Network will keep showing up.
Because this isn't just something we do.
This is who we are. ❤️
Two years later. Thousands of people. Countless memories. Lifelong friendships. Hard lessons. And a whole lot of love.
The storm may have passed.
But the mission continues.
PAY IT FORWARD. ❤️
