Our Story
Who is Ava? Ava is 7 years old, lives in Mt. Airy, MD and was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. She attends Parr's Ridge Elementary, loves the color pink, Doc McStuffins, her friends, and her little brother, Michael. Ava is as typical as a first grader gets. The only thing that makes her “different” is an additional chromosome. As Ava grows, she continues to break barriers and stereotypes set by society. She captivates people with her contagious smile and huge personality causing those who meet her to fall in love. What is Ava’s 5K for Down Syndrome?
