Event 302 - 10/24/2026

It was a crisp, dry, autumnal morning - excellent weather for a parkrun. We welcomed 51 participants, including a visitor from Seattle and five first-timers. It was Tim's first time as Run Director and he did a stellar job.

Don't forget that our next parkrun takes place on Halloween! We strongly encourage costumes, and there are rumors of treats at the finish line.

Thanks to this week's volunteer team: Alex, Beth, Chris, Ellen, Jane, Jenna, Martha, Steffen, and Tim.

Just after parkrun launched its new milestone colours, Rock Creek Trail parkrun turned 300 today!! And boy did they celebrate with a mass of orange. For those of us familiar with Dutch football (sorry ... soccer) supporters, I felt like I was at a game!! Ok, so thats a bit of an exaggeration but some people were definitely wearing orange.

Rock Creek Trail parkrun is about 11 miles west of downtown Portland. Its a beautiful out and back along a paved trail with a few undulations to get the heart rate going. Wildlife on the trail is amazing if you have time to stop and look!

64 folk took part on a pleasant autumn (sorry .... fall) day. The regular locals were joined by 3 tourists from England (including me) and some first timers. We were all made to feel very welcome by first time Run Director Alex.

In first place was Matthew de Witt in a time of 19:41. First female was Ashley Sadler in 23:10.

Nine fabulous volunteers cheered us on and provided delicious home made cookies at the finish.

🧡Happy 300th Rock Creek Trail parkrun!!!

A fabulous day at Rock Creek Trail parkrun #299! We had 56 participants join us. Eight of whom were first timers, four recorded personal bests, and three clubs were represented.

We had visitors from Maryland, Seattle and Vancouver. Several volunteers and participants were preparing for the Portland Marathon on Sunday.

A huge thanks to Jeremy who reached his 50th volunteer milestone this week 🎉 He was marshal and took the fabulous photographs. We are lucky to have such amazing volunteers!

In all our volunteer team was: Alex. David. Tsai-Xing, Chandra, Chip, Martha, Jeremy and Haig. We cannot do this without you, and we are grateful for your support.

Thanks to the new parkrun milestones, we have an excuse to celebrate next weekend. See you all in your best orange outfits to celebrate our 300th event 🧡
