Big Brothers Big Sisters : Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln & Mercer Counties Changing the lives of children for the better, forever. What if every child fulfilled their potential? Think how amazing that would be.

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct, lasting effect on the lives of young people. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Vision is successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all. Making the Connection:
Matches come together through our community-based mentoring program. For as little as an hour a week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities and stories, and a little bit of themselves. To learn more about Community-based Mentoring, click here: http://ow.ly/ylBTa

How a Big becomes a Big (and, a Little a Little):
A lot of things have to happen before we make a match. All of our Bigs go through a thorough background check and careful interview process. Then we match Bigs and Littles based on location, personalities and preferences. And we provide full support along the way — so that matches can grow into lasting friendships. The entire matching process between a Big and a Little is made possible through donations; without them, we aren’t able to do what we do best! What Bigs and Littles Do:
Getting together is a great time for both Bigs and Littles. It doesn't require a special occasion or expensive activities; just a few hours every month sharing the simple things we all enjoy. Activities shared between Bigs and Littles include, but are far from limited to, the following:

-Shooting hoops
-Playing a board game
-Sharing a pizza
-Taking a walk in the park
-Or just hanging out and talking
