We aren't using this song in any pieces (although it's a good one) but we are using this movement, choreographed by Kristen Vencel (we do this kind of thing a lot). Come see where this phrase, affectionately named The World Cup phrase, shows up in two new premieres...

"I love making dances. I love the process. I love the collaboration with the dancers in the room. I love how something that seems like a crazy or weird idea can become something so cool and interesting. Over the years I have learned to just try ideas out without overthinking. It either works or it leads to something else that does." - Kristen Vencel, DKDC Artistic Director

Our Artistic Director, Kristen Vencel, spent the day with Jon Lehrer Dance for a teaching certification of the Leher Technique, which she describes as a technique that offers fullness, freedom, and so much fun. Thank you Jon Lehrer Dance for the ways you breathe life into this art form and the people within it.

Don't forget to follow Jon Lehrer Dance to keep up with their upcoming Florida performances and more.

"ADULT PROBLEMS is a two part look at the ups and downs of adulthood and how, though our circumstances differ, we aren't alone in the struggle. I have felt for a long time that our culture doesn't like to look deeply at the realities of mid life and the complexities of persevering through it. These dances look not just at that stage of life specifically, but how as adults of all ages, there is a lot of hope and richness in facing these challenges head on and locking arms with those around us in the midst of it." - Kristen Vencel, DKDC Artistic Director

TOMORROW!! Pre-Show Curated Art Experience: 6pm to 7:30pm & Live Dance Performance: 8pm to 9:30pm with a Q&A time following.

"Birds is inspired by an investigative question I've been pondering for years. What happens when you or I or a group of people look at another person or group of people as less valuable, less human, less worth caring for and treating with dignity? What happens if we let superiority rule in our hearts?" - Kristen Vencel, Artistic Director of Demetrius Klein Dance Company
