The James River Soil and Water Conservation District supports conservation and agriculture in Chesterfield by encouraging youth to pursue careers in agriculture.

It has established a local scholarship, the Donald A Bagshaw Memorial Scholarship, which provides $1,500 to a high school senior and $1,500 to a freshman, sophomore, or junior. Applicants must be residents of Chesterfield or Prince George Counties.
