Own a home or business on the North or South Carolina coast? After a hurricane, insurance can feel unfamiliar, since most people only file a claim once or twice.

One storm can bring wind, wind-driven rain, and flooding, and policies cover each differently. Wind is typically covered by a homeowners policy; flooding usually needs a separate flood policy. Many coastal policies also have a hurricane deductible (the part you pay yourself) based on a percentage of your home's insured value.

When a storm, fire, or burst pipe damages your home, you report it to your insurance company and ask them to cover repairs. That's called filing a "claim." Most people only do this once or twice in their lives.

Your insurance company then sends an "adjuster" to look at the damage and evaluate the claim on its behalf.

A public adjuster is a state-licensed professional you have the option to hire to work on your behalf. At StormPro Public Adjusters, we inspect your property, document the damage, read through your policy to determine coverage, and handle the conversations with your insurance company, so you can focus on getting back to normal.
