Lifelines is the outdoor and experiential network of Cru. Our main audience is college students, though we also take high school students and faculty on trips.

With more than 20 years of experience, Lifelines has a rapidly growing team of more than 25 full-time guides, a proven outdoor curriculum and locations in four different areas of the US. Lifelines is part of the interdenominational Christian ministry called Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), which has a presence on more than 1,100 campuses in the United States. Our purpose is to help people grow in relationship with God, in relationships with each other, in character and in leadership. The outdoors has historically been an effective venue to connect with people and with our increasingly media-saturated culture it can be even more transformational. Now we resource Cru with the vision of seeing outdoor experiential learning change lives throughout our organization. Our method is experiential learning and many of our concepts can be adapted for any venue indoors or out. Yet typically with Lifelines the outdoors is our passion and our classroom. In short, we take people on adventures like rock climbing, snowshoeing or whitewater rafting—not just for adventure sake, but also to help challenge how they think about themselves, others and God. Our programs encourage participants to take physical, emotional and relational risks, placing them in a position to grow. We believe that all people have the same needs: physical, emotional and spiritual. This provides common ground for us to reach out to all types of students and faculty. It is our goal for people to experience the grace and truth of the Gospel as they connect with each other and God. This is the national page for Lifelines. We also have pages for:

When Jesus was in the boat with his disciples and a storm came up like they’d never seen before. The disciples asked Jesus “do you not care if we die?”

Have you ever questioned if God cares? Wondered where is he, is he “sleeping” through this? Am I on my own for this one?

Jesus answered the disciples “you off little faith, do you not know who is in the boat with you?” Then he calmed the storm surrounding them.

In the midst of your storm, be still and ask the Holy Spirit to help you trust the one “who is in the boat with you”.

He will never leave you or forsake you!

Have you ever struggled with “spiritual amnesia?” Or in other words just forgetting what God has done for you or even deeper, forgetting who he is and his character? I think we’ve all had these moments. God gives us so many examples in the bible of ways to remember him, a few examples: communion, worship, annual feasts, sabbath, baptism, communion, singing and in the old testament examples such manna in the ark, 12 stones at the Jordan etc.

What is a way you can actively remember God’s goodness in your life? Here are a few ideas: Prayer journal that you reflect on, remembering special days/events and celebrating them year after year, Writing songs/poems praising him. Do it in your own way, how the Spirit leads but pick something and stick to it if you are struggling to rest in his goodness.

“Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.” -Psalm 127:1-2

Is there anything in life that is causing you to “eat the bread of anxious toil”? We can try all we want to “get things done”, but unless the Lord is with us and guiding those steps it is all in vain. What would it look like if you took a step towards God instead of trying to do it all by your power?

Summer is here, which means more and more time in the mountains! With plentiful water flowing, it is good to refresh on safe drinking water. Don't forget, a rolling boil kills everything, but your filter, UV light, and chemicals may not. Double check what your filter or chemicals deal with, and remember, UV light needs totally clear water. Stay hydrated and stay safe out there!

Meet Nathan McIndoo, a Lifelines Rep with Cru at Boise State University. For years now, our students have thrived when we invite Lifelines to our campus for retreats and activities. As soon as I heard there was a rep role, I knew it was a no-brainer! Now I can bring the Lifelines experience to campus on a moment's notice. Our students are so excited; they're constantly sharing ideas with me about trips or activities we should plan. We can't wait to see Lifelines have an even bigger impact on the culture and shape of our movement here.

The Gospel of Luke tells us to love the Lord with all of our "heart, soul, mind, and strength." We often just group these together to mean we should love God with all we are, but what does that actually look like? We were intentionally created by God as complex creatures. Heart: emotions, desires, feelings, dreams, convictions
Soul: immaterial, spiritual part of your being
Mind: reason, thought, intelligence, learning
Strength: physical strength/ability, power, authority, skills

Your walk with God should impact and change every part of who you are! Come on a Lifelines adventure and learn more about how the Gospel can change the "whole person"

One of our biggest joys with Lifelines is the opportunity to take students out into creation!! Students in Ashville, NC had the opportunity this semester to get outside together and enjoy a day of climbing and learning what it means to trust God and those around them
