And so it is. We have arrived at the threshold of wedding week.

After nearly a year of planning, the festivities officially begin.

Tonight we walk the venue. Tomorrow, the brides and their wedding party move into a big old house together for the weekend, followed by a welcome dinner tomorrow night. Friday morning we rehearse, and then the women gather to share food and turn buckets and buckets of locally grown flowers into bouquets and arrangements.

And Saturday, Sage marries her beloved Gabi.

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Cedar Edge Floral, where I had the honor of witnessing the brides and the farmers wander the fields together, choosing flowers that will become part of their wedding day.

I am especially delighted by the thought of the women gathering around those flowers together on Friday, making beauty with our hands.

And then on Saturday, we gather for ceremony and celebration.

My heart is with all those affected by the devastating flooding in Tibet and India, and with the families, pilgrims, communities, and rescue workers moving through so much uncertainty, grief, and loss.

These places feel particularly close today. So many of the spiritual traditions that have shaped my life—and our Ram Dass community—carry deep roots through India and Tibet, through Hinduism and Buddhism, bhakti and contemplative practice.

Sometimes the suffering of the world simply asks us to pause. To bear witness. To let our hearts be touched by the suffering of others.

And to remember how much we need places where we can hold and be held by one another.

This Sunday, our Rhode Island Ram Dass Fellowship gathers at Skydog for an extended afternoon of satsang, joining by livestream with the larger Ram Dass community gathered in North Carolina.

Today, I am especially grateful that this little place of refuge is already waiting for us.

A place for practice, devotion, remembrance, and community.

A place to bring our very human hearts.

Learn more about the Fellowship and Sunday’s gathering through the link in my profile or at rewildyoursanctuary.org/events.

This Sunday, our Rhode Island Ram Dass Fellowship is doing something a little special.

We’ll be gathering here at Skydog for an extended Fellowship while joining the larger Ram Dass community gathered in Boone, North Carolina for the Ram Dass Legacy Summer Mountain Retreat.

The gardens open at 2pm, giving us time to arrive, settle in, and connect before the livestream begins at 3pm.

Together we’ll join:

3:00–4:15pm
David Nichtern & Acharya Shunya

4:30–5:30pm
Nina Rao & Friends — Hanuman Chalisa Intro & Practice

Afterward, we’ll gather around the table for a potluck and time together.

Come for the teachings, the practice, the community, or simply the chance to sit together for an afternoon.

This gathering is offered by donation. Any donations received will be shared between Community Oasis at Skydog and the Love Serve Remember Foundation.

Sunday, August 30 | 2:00–5:30pm
Skydog Farm | North Scituate, RI

Foster found a little baby bird this morning all wet & cold in the tall grass.

I brought the little orphan to the Wildlife Clinic of RI.

I’ll keep you posted.

The Full Moon lingers.
The wheel is turning.
The women are gathering.

Today we celebrate Lammas, the Cross-Quarter Day marking the halfway point between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox.

Join us this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. as we gather under the Red Tent to celebrate the season with a simple ceremony, mini herbal brooms, and sharing in the gifts of the season.

You're welcome to bring a small sample of the season's bounty to share—whether it comes from your own garden, the farmers market, or a nearby farm stand. Or just bring yourself.

If the idea of a Red Tent stirs your curiosity, we'd love for you to join us.

Drop-ins are welcome.
