🎨 Who should apply for Creative Futures / Futuros Creativos?

If you’re an artist who’s ready to take your creative practice to the next level, we’re talking to YOU! 🫵

Creative Futures is a FREE accelerator designed for emerging and mid-career visual artists from historically underrepresented communities who are looking to build more sustainable creative careers.

You don’t need an established art business or have everything figured out. We’re looking for artists with a commitment to their craft, a clear creative vision, and a willingness to learn and grow.

✨ Here’s what you need to know:
✔️ You must be 21 or older
✔️ You must live in New York State
✔️ Your work must be original and not AI-generated

We’re selecting 20 artists to join this exciting opportunity to develop the tools, knowledge, and connections to turn their creative passion into a sustainable career.

🎨🍻✨ A little paint, a little sip, and a whole lot of creativity! This past Sunday, we brought artgrounds: The Maker’s Bar to Yonkers Brewing Co. for an evening of painting, good company, and creative connection!

A huge thank you to the wonderful Giselle Restrepo Selva y Alma by GMR for guiding us through the experience, to our friends at Yonkers Brewing Co. for hosting, and to everyone who joined us to make art and share space.

artgrounds is all about making room for creativity in the places we already love to gather. Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or the hundredth, there’s always a seat for you at the table.

✨ No one repairs a crack alone.

We had the honor of bringing Gilding the Cracks, a collective art experience inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, to the NY Youth Justice Institute (YJI) 10th anniversary celebration.

Kintsugi teaches us that what is broken doesn’t have to be hidden. Instead, the cracks can become part of something meaningful.

Guests were invited to reflect on what they believe is broken in the youth justice system, then offer a single word of hope for its future. Each contribution became part of a larger artwork: a fractured map of New York State, brought together with gold-lined seams and a shared vision for change.

💛 96 pieces. Many perspectives. One collective work of hope.

Thank you to NY Youth Justice Institute for inviting We Art One to be part of this milestone celebration, and to everyone who contributed a piece of themselves to the finished work.

Because repair is never the work of one person alone. ✨

You asked for it, so we’re opening the studio after hours - one week from today. 🌙🎨

Introducing artgrounds: Open Studio 21+... a FREE, laid-back studio night for adults to make, experiment, and create without the structure of a traditional art class.

Because sometimes, you just need space to grow. 🌱 Bring a project, start something new, or show up and see what inspires you. We’ll provide the supplies, materials, and space: you create at your own pace, surrounded by other people doing the same.

We believe growth happens when we create in community: when we share space, exchange ideas, try something unfamiliar, and give ourselves permission to play. Come solo, bring a friend, meet someone new, and see what grows from there. ❤️

Alex will be leading our off-campus open studio every Friday from 3–6 PM, while Amari will lead our teen open studio every Wednesday from 3–6 PM.

NEW: Open Studio: Off Campus takes over Friday afternoons! Designed for ages 18–24 (college student or not), bring a project, your art homework, or start something new with access to our shared studio + materials.
Open Studio for Teens keeps Wednesdays creative, and on Thursday 10/15, artgrounds: Open Studio 21+ is back after hours!

Bring a project, your art homework, or start something completely new. We’ll have our shared studio + materials open for you to draw, paint, sculpt, print, experiment, and create at your own pace.

No class. No assignment. No experience necessary. Just studio time to make what you want.
