Last week, MPA hosted two In Your Neighborhood gatherings on the same day, one in North Bethesda and one in Severna Park, and both were a tremendous success.

One of the most exciting outcomes came from the Severna Park group, whose members connected so well that they have already begun making plans to continue meeting regularly. Building meaningful professional relationships and fostering local connections among psychologists is exactly what these gatherings are all about.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make these events so successful, and we look forward to supporting even more member-led gatherings across Maryland.

If you are interested in hosting an MPA In Your Neighborhood event in your area, please reach out to Taylor Dickerson, our Executive Director, at [email protected]. We'd love to help you get started!

❌ People are either left-brained or right-brained.
❌ Everyone has one fixed learning style.

These are some of the most common misconceptions about psychology—and the science tells a different story.

We often think about protecting our heart and body, but what about our brain?

Research suggests that sleep, exercise, nutrition, social connection, and other lifestyle habits play an important role in long-term brain health.

Which habit would be hardest for you to give up?

When you hear the word "psychologist," what comes to mind?

Many people think of therapy, but psychologists also work in schools, hospitals, courtrooms, research labs, corporations, and with athletes.

Psychology is a diverse profession with countless ways to make a difference.

These numbers are a powerful reminder: **no one struggling with mental health is alone.**

Talking about mental health isn’t a weakness. It’s courage. Real strength is choosing to face what hurts rather than hide from it. And even the smallest step forward can create meaningful change.

This Men’s Health Month, let’s build a culture where men feel safe to speak up, reach out, and be supported. Together, we can break the stigma and make sure no one has to struggle in silence.

*Data highlights the urgent need. Men are significantly less likely to seek help and are nearly 4x more likely to die by su***de.*
