"Unfortunately what we've seen in last year's budget and continuing into this year's budget, both at the federal and state level, is abandoning our immigrant communities when they need safety, healthcare and access to economic opportunity. As the fourth largest economy in the world, one that immigrant communities are the backbone of, we cannot do that to our communities.” - our Executive Director Masih Fouladi.

With the deadline for the State Legislature to send an updated budget proposal to the governor just around the corner, leaders and activists alike are calling for targeted investment to support immigrant communities throughout the state.

One year ago, mass deportation raids swept Los Angeles and communities across the country. Our familias were torn apart. Nuestras comunidades were terrorized. Lives were forever changed. But our gente did not break. We mourned together, organized together, and resisted together.

Today, on this painful anniversary, we renew our commitment: to the families still separated, to the communities still healing, and to the fight for a California where every person belongs.

Immigrant communities bear a disproportionate burden of environmental harm — from air pollution to climate-related disasters. A more just and sustainable future means ensuring that everyone, regardless of where they were born, has access to clean air, safe water, and healthy environments.

This World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to policies that protect both people and our planet. 🌎
