Why Every Assyrian Patriot Should Be Proud of Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII (Part One).

Every Assyrian patriot should be extremely proud to have had a leader who dedicated his entire life to serving our nation with honor: the martyred Assyrian Patriarch, H.H. Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII.
Consider the undeniable historical record:

• Global Historical Recognition: If you search The British Archives, The League of Nations Archives, the United States Congress archives, and major libraries worldwide, you will find that Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII was the sole Assyrian leader responsible for over 90% of direct communications with the League of Nations and top world leaders.

• International Media Acclaim: No other Assyrian leader commanded such widespread international press coverage regarding the Assyrian Church and Nation. He was widely recognized as a scholar and a philosopher by the global media.

• Unwavering Integrity: He steadfastly refused all bribes and never sold out the Assyrian cause.

• Worldwide Respect: He earned the profound respect of statesmen and leaders from all around the globe.
A Message to the New Generation

We strongly urge the new generation of Assyrians not to be misled by the remnants of those who brought extensive damage to the Assyrian cause—the inventors of a false history built on making "heroes out of zeros and zeros out of heroes."

To set the record straight, we will begin sharing thousands of international newspaper articles documenting the tireless work and dedication of our martyred leader, H.H. Mar Eshai Shimun. Many of these archives have never been seen before. Because Facebook limits the number of photos per upload, we will share these historical documents across several upcoming posts.

Special Message to Our Assyrian Youth Worldwide

As promised during my previous live broadcast, we are releasing several crucial and historical documents today.

• Document One: A four-page report regarding the Assyrian Simele Massacre, written and signed by the late Malik Yaco Malik Ismail and the late Malik Loco Shlimon, addressed to the martyred Assyrian leader, His Holiness Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII.

• Document Two: An Arabic newspaper report (article attached and translated to English) alleging that Mar Eshai Shimun met with Chaim Weizmann—the President of the World Zionist Organization and later the first President of Israel in 1949—to establish an Assyrian homeland in the Arab world similar to Israel.
This article generated severe challenges for Assyrians in Iraq and Syria, forcing Mar Shimun to write to various Arab leaders clarifying that the report was entirely false and that he was not involved in politics.

Mar Shimun's close friend, Raymond A. Bowman—a prominent professor of Oriental languages and scholar at the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, widely recognized for his epigraphic work deciphering ancient Near Eastern languages—was the first to alert His Holiness to the article and its damaging repercussions (letters attached).

Furthermore, the newspaper article mentioned Dr. Henry Field, another longtime friend of Mar Shimun. Dr. Field was a prominent American anthropologist, archaeologist, grand-nephew of department store founder Marshall Field, and advisor to U.S. Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman during World War II. Following the article's publication, Mar Shimun wrote directly to Dr. Field (letter attached).

We strongly condemn, in the clearest possible terms, the Iranian attack targeting the private office of the Prime Minister and the residence of the Director of the Parastin Agency in the Pirmam district of Erbil.

The Kurdistan Region is not a party to the conflict, and its territory must not be used as a target or battlefield for conflicts between other states or parties. Any attack against the Region's territory and institutions constitutes a serious violation of its security and sovereignty.

This terrorist act is a direct attack on the security, stability, and safety of the Kurdistan Region, and sends an extremely dangerous and negative message to the people of the Region and to all of Iraq. Such actions threaten regional stability and cannot be allowed to become normalized.

The security of the Kurdistan Region is an integral part of the security of Iraq as a whole. We therefore call upon the Federal Government of Iraq to take a clear, firm, and unequivocal position against this attack and to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to protect the security and sovereignty of Iraqi territory.

We further call upon the international community to condemn this aggression clearly and to take the necessary measures to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The security and stability of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq must be respected, and no party should be permitted to undermine them through acts of violence or aggression.

We stand in solidarity with the Kurdistan Region and its people and reaffirm our support for its right to security, stability, and protection from external aggression.

Dear Prime Minister Masrour Barzani,

Please accept our strongest condemnation and our solidarity in the face of this grave act of aggression.

His Excellency President Masoud Barzani

Dear Mr. President,

On the auspicious occasion of your 80th birthday, I extend my warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to your Excellency.
Reflecting on the past year, I recall our two meetings with immense gratitude. Both occasions were deeply productive and left a lasting impression on me. In particular, I was truly amazed by your profound knowledge and deep understanding of the shared history of struggle of both the Assyrian and Kurdish peoples. Your wisdom and historical insight are a testament to your visionary leadership.

I was deeply moved by Your Excellency’s powerful remarks on the historic ties between the martyred Assyrian Patriarch, H.H. Mar Benyamin Shimun, and your uncle, the martyred Kurdish leader Shaikh Abdul Salam Barzani, as well as the enduring relationship that both the late Shaikh Ahmad Barzani and the late Mullah Mustafa Barzani shared with the Assyrian leadership.

I also want to express my deepest thanks for your unwavering commitment to building the Assyrian Simele Massacre complex in Simele. This vital project stands as a powerful tribute to historical memory, justice, and reconciliation.

Furthermore, I am profoundly grateful for your clear and steadfast recognition that Assyrians are not merely a minority, but the indigenous people of this land. Your respect for our heritage, rights, and rightful place in history is deeply appreciated by the Assyrian community.

May this milestone year bring you continued good health, strength, and peace. Wishing you a very happy 80th birthday and a long life dedicated to peace and prosperity for all.

Warmest regards,

Sam Darmo
