Dar-us-Sakina is looking for compassionate community members to volunteer at our Annual Special Needs Fall Festival on Sunday, November 1, 2026!

🕑 General Volunteer Hours: 2:00 PM–7:30 PM
📍 Bear Creek Islamic Center
17250 Coventry Park Dr.
Houston, TX 77084

Deadline to sign up is October 11th

Volunteer roles may include:
• Event setup
• Family check-in
• Activity stations
• Serving as a Buddy
• General event support

We are looking for caring, dependable volunteers who want to give back and help make this a fun and inclusive evening for our families.

At Dar-us-Sakina, we support the entire family unit by recognising the caregivers and siblings of individuals with disabilities as our Power Moms, Power Dads, and Power Siblings. 💙

Isolation and a lack of support are among the hardest challenges caregivers face. That's why the regular meetups coordinated by our Supports Team, where our Power Moms connect and build meaningful friendships, are so highly anticipated.

Recently, our Power Moms gathered for a well-deserved brunch full of heartfelt conversation, laughter, and community. We're grateful to create spaces where caregivers feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are never alone.

Our very first ADP sale is officially in the books! 🎉

A huge JazakAllah khair to Masjid Aqsa for welcoming us so warmly, and to everyone in the community who stopped by, chatted with our participants, and took home a handmade wooden tasbeeh. Your support meant the world.

Every piece was crafted by our participants, and they ran the whole show from start to finish. They set up the table, greeted customers with big smiles, handled payments, and carefully packaged each order. Real skills, real confidence! This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see you at the next sale on October 16th, inshaAllah. Stay tuned for what we will be selling next!

Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for another Sunday school semester at Masjid Aqsa! We are excited to welcome back 18 students and 20 interns, all ready to learn, grow, and strengthen their connection to their deen this semester.

Jazakumullahu Khairan to Shabana Rehman and Zehra Ghouse for leading Aqsa Sunday School and dedicating their time and hearts to guiding our next generation.

From new faces to familiar ones, today marked the start of a semester full of learning, community, and connection and we couldn't be more excited for what's ahead. 🤲

The first day of our Teen and Adult Program (TAP) marked the beginning of something truly special at Dar-us-Sakina. 🌿

We were honored to welcome our participants into a space thoughtfully designed to help each person feel seen, valued, and at home.

Leading this journey are our Lead Coordinator, Rehana Essa, and Lead Teachers, Ayesha Khan and Naila Owais. Their care, dedication, and thoughtful preparation helped shape the program from the very beginning.

Our interns also play an essential role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Through their time, energy, and dedication, they help participants build meaningful connections, develop new skills, and fully engage in the program.

Please keep our participants, their families, interns, and team in your duas as we continue this meaningful journey together.

🎓 DUS Intern Training 2026

Preparing our interns to serve with confidence, compassion, and understanding. 🤝

During this year’s Intern Training, our team learned more about the purpose of the DUS Internship Program, what to expect throughout their experience, and practical ways to understand and respond to different child behaviors in a positive and supportive manner.

We’re grateful to Islamic Relief USA for helping fund this training and supporting the development of the next generation of community leaders. 💙
