Rebuilding Together SouthWest Illinois is an organization where volunteers and donors come together to make essential home repairs to low-income elderly, disabled, and veteran homeowners at no cost to the homeowner. RT-SWI works to protect and revitalize low income homeownership.

We rebuilt a small porch/deck for a local senior. It was falling apart and wasn't safe for her to get in and out of her home, so she called us. Thanks to Chuck and Paul for coming out on Labor Day and today to help get this done. You guys are the best.

As promised, here's the pictures from the project for a Vietnam Veteran in Edwardsville. The porch and steps were rotten and had holes in it where he fell through with his wheelchair. Thanks to the folks from Olin/Winchester and a group from SIUE Black Student Union. It turned out great and the homeowner can safely get out of his house to the wheelchair ramp.

We had an incredible group of volunteers from Olin/Winchester that worked all morning on a project in Edwardsville, before installing this wheelchair ramp for a senior in Collinsville. We installed a quick aluminum wheelchair ramp for a local senior today. She had to have both legs amputated due to a medical emergency and has also undergone brain surgery. We recently did a few projects to make a local senior and her multigenerational family's home safer to live in. We installed a basement door that had removed, installed a handrail going into the basement (where the washer and dryer were located) and installed a grab bar from the garage into the house. These small improvements make a world of difference when you have seniors and toddlers.

OK. Here's part two of the projects that we did this past week for a local senior. We had to demo an existing wheelchair ramp and rebuild it. We did a couple of projects at a local senior's home this past week. She is legally blind and things have gotten away from her.
