Feeding the Valley LaGrange

Feeding the Valley LaGrange Feeding the Valley is one of seven regional food banks in the State of Georgia and is part of the Feeding America network of food banks.

Feeding the Valley is a food bank that distributes food to non-profit partner agencies that operate food closets providing food to those in our community who are recognized as being food insecure. It serves as a center for the reception and distribution of donated food and grocery
products. We pick up and receive truckloads of food and grocery products from national and local retail donors. In add

ition, area businesses, individuals, civic groups, schools and churches conduct food drives throughout the year to provide food for our programs. We collaborate with member partner agencies that receive food from our warehouse and then distribute to families in need within their neighborhoods. Because of our large area of service, these agencies area are a vital outreach to families in need.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom. More than a century and a half later, this day remains a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of equality for all communities.

Black communities across the country have shaped, strengthened, and led the movement to end hunger. Today, we honor those contributions and the leaders, neighbors, and changemakers behind them.

Join us in learning about, reflecting on, and celebrating this day. Together, we can build a future where everyone can thrive.

A food desert isn't about sand or heat.

It's a community where healthy, affordable food is hard — or impossible — to reach.
In rural Georgia, that might mean driving 30+ minutes to the nearest grocery store. In urban neighborhoods, it might mean a store exists nearby, but prices are too high, transportation is unreliable, and fresh food is limited.

Food deserts exist in both cities and rural areas. And they don't just cause hunger — they're connected to higher rates of diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
Where you live should not determine your health.

Save this. Share it with someone who needs to know.

Nearly 59% of Georgia public school students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
That's not a small number. That's the majority of kids in Georgia's public schools.
And every summer, that daily meal disappears.
Summer feeding programs exist to help close that gap — bringing nutritious meals directly into communities where kids live.
But awareness is everything. If families don't know the programs exist, kids go without.
Share this. It might help someone in your community.
