Gallatin Composite Squadron Official Page for Civil Air Patrol Montana Wing's Gallatin Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. military veterans.

Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force’s Total Force, which consists of regular Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, along with Air Force retired military and civilian employees. CAP, in its Total Force role, operates a fleet of 550 aircraft and performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 78 lives annually. Civil Air Patrol’s 56,000 members nationwide also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Its members additionally play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 24,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet program. Performing missions for America for the past 75 years, CAP received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2014 in honor of the heroic efforts of its World War II veterans. What outstanding job for an another great Polar Plunge this year! This year we had multiple cadets take the plunge this year to help out the Special Olympics! The cadets that took the fridge ice plunge were C/Roberts, C/Wuebber, C/Kover, C/Wallace A, C/Herrick and at last our amazing First Sargent Cadet Mazurie-Chidiac. We all had a blast hope to continue to do it next year and to help out the community!

Recently, in Gallatin Composite Squadron, many cadets had the opportunity to attend Montana Winter Wing Drill. This event was an amazing opportunity for the cadets that spanned the weekend and included a tour of the Montana State Capitol. During the remainder of the weekend, after the tour, cadets learned leadership skills from various cadet officers and put those skills to the test in several leadership activities. All in all, this was an incredible opportunity, for all who attended.

At this weeks meeting we had our quarterly squadron change of command.

This rotation we were able to add to our staff, with C/SMSgt Kover taking the position of Aerospace NCO and C/TSgt Herrick taking the position of Leadership NCO.

For flight staff, our new 1st Sgt is C/CMSgt Mazurie-Chidiac, Alpha Flight Sgt is C/MSgt Forsythe, and Bravo Flight Sgt is C/MSgt Fryer. For X-ray flight C/SSgt Roberts is Flight Sgt and C/TSgt Wallace is X-ray Flight Assistant.

On the side of logistics C/CMSgt Wuebber and C/MSgt Forsythe are now Public Affairs NCOs and C/MSgt Huckert is our Comms NCO.

With these new appointments we are looking forward to developing our squadron and growing as a unit.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the squadron celebrated SM Wallace and all her contributions to CAP as she takes time off to begin her Naval career. Best of Luck SM Wallace!

Last weekend, we had our annual Dinning Out to celebrate our squadron’s accomplishments.

Our color guard posted the colors. After, C/MSgt Kover and C/2d Lt Zimdars conducted the POW/MIA memorial to honor those who have served our nation.

We were honored to have our MTWG Commander, Col. Matthew Bolin attend as an honored guest. He graced us with a speech about his personal leadership experience. Col. Bolin also awarded two wing commander commendations to 2d Lt Wallace and SM Wallace for their excellent service at this years’ encampment.

We were also lucky to have Post 14 Vice Commander Len Albright from America Legion who presented us with a donation for $500 dollars!

We also conducted a silent auction to raise money for our squadron. The auction was very successful and we would like to thank everyone who participated.

The night ended with a bittersweet charge from Capt Troth about dedication as we honored SM Wallace who is heading off to the Navy and will be leaving our squadron for a time.

Gallatin Composite Squadron has just completed a first aid training cycle. This training was conducted by SM Ashley. She is the health services and physical fitness officer who is qualified in first aid training. During the in person class, the cadets trained with dummies in CPR and the use of an AED. The cadets who attended this class are now officially trained in CPR and First Aid! Qualifications in CPR and first aid are required to be qualified in many of the CAP emergency services departments such as ground team.

We are beyond excited to announce that C/CMSgt Zimdars has achieved his Billy Mitchell award and has promoted to C/2dLt!
He has also taken the position of Flight Commander and been given command of Alpha Flight!

If you have worked with C/2dLt Zimdars, then you know his core values and hard work shows in everything he does. He is just starting his officer leadership journey and we are looking forward to seeing everything he accomplishes. Congratulations Lieutenant!!!!!
