A reminder to always be prepared. Check out the gear list at the end and compare it to what we reviewed with Virginia State Police's Search and Rescue team.

When a seasoned hiker injured her knee on Colorado’s chossy Broken Hand Pass, her 13-hour rescue in the dark became a testament to why prep isn't just for beginners.

Troop 400 was honored to lead the retreat ceremony at Camp T. Brady Saunders last night, as scouts from across camp gathered to recognize the troop’s gift of two new outdoor pavilions at the Myers Campsite. The color guard presented the flag to Committee Chairman Jimmy Carr who awarded it to Jim Featherstone in gratitude for his decades of selfless service. A very proud moment for our troop and our families. 🇺🇸⚜️

Congratulations to the New York Knicks on winning the NBA Championship! Did you know that Knicks guard Josh Hart is one of only a few champs who are also proud Eagle Scouts? Here's an older video telling his scouting story.

🦅 Four Boy Scouts. Four communities. One extraordinary achievement to celebrate as we close out the 2025-26 academic and scouting year.

Troop 400 is incredibly proud to celebrate our newest class of Eagle Scouts: Cooper M., Liam N., Will T., and Jack W.
Each of these young men didn't just earn Scouting's highest rank. They left something behind for their communities to enjoy for years to come.

🥏 Cooper built three disc golf platforms at Trinity Episcopal School.
⚡ Liam built a gaga ball pit at Seven Hills School's playground.
🪑 Will built benches at All Saints Episcopal Church's preschool area.
🌳 Jack built picnic tables for Richmond Primary School's playground.

Their Eagle projects aren't just service hours. They're places where kids will play, gather, and grow for many years to come. What an achievement.

And they didn't do it alone. This milestone reflects a troop of 32 active Scouts who earned 34 advancements across all ranks this year — proof that the spirit of Scouting is alive and thriving in Troop 400 at St James's Episcopal Church.

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. Congratulations, Cooper, Liam, Will, and Jack. Well done. We couldn't be prouder. We wish you the best in all of your future adventures, and you are always welcome back at our campfire. 🤝🏕️
