Art with a Heart in Healthcare

Art with a Heart in Healthcare We provide personalized fine art experiences that enhance the healing process for patients. Vincent’s Riverside.

Since our founding in 2001 by cousins Lori Guadagno and Lisa Landwirth Ullmann, Art with a Heart in Healthcare has served thousands of patients and their families at several locations in Jacksonville, FL including Wolfson Children's Hospital, Nemours Children's Clinic, Baptist Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, and Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at St. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we rely on the g

enerosity of others to support our mission. Six days a week, our talented team of staff artists, community volunteers and interns from the University of North Florida develop sessions individualized to meet the needs of patients and families at bedside or in groups. What differentiates us is an emphasis on personal expression from a fine art perspective. We believe that creativity is fundamental to the human experience and that artistic expression promotes physical health and well-being that leads to improved patient outcomes. Art expression helps humanize the high-tech atmosphere of the clinical settings while diminishing fear, pain, boredom and depression associated with hospitalization. Art can empower a patient in an otherwise powerless situation.

After a whirlwind of events leading up to Levi’s stay at , he and his mom were finally able to catch their breath in the playroom with Art with a Heart.

Instead of anxiously waiting for surgery, they spent the morning connecting with our artists and other families while getting creative with Model Magic.

While Levi was in his procedure, Artist-in-Residence Amy painted a picture of his favorite superhero, Spider-Man.

Art can’t take away the hard parts of being in the hospital, but it can offer moments of calm, connection, and joy when families need them most.

A heartfelt thank you to our longtime sponsor, the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund , for helping make meaningful art experiences possible for pediatric patients and families at Nemours Children’s Health.

Three days a week, their support brings our Artist-in-Residence, Kianna, into the Hematology/Oncology waiting room and infusion suites, where she offers patients a creative break during long clinic visits and treatments.

In a space that can often feel overwhelming, art gives children a chance to relax, express themselves, and simply be kids. 🎨

Last month, AWAHIH joined the support group luncheon for breast cancer survivors with a special jewelry-making activity.

Participants chose from a variety of beautiful charms to create their own bracelets, each one becoming a small reflection of creativity, connection, and strength.

Grateful for the opportunity to share this meaningful moment together 🩷

A peek into Kennedy’s creative process, no trending audio needed!

Kennedy painted her guitar to represent
“Waymaker” by Leeland, a song that has been a powerful anchor and guiding light for her since the beginning of treatment.

She has fond memories of dancing to it in the hallways with her night nurses, finding joy and comfort in the middle of long hospital stays.

Her beautiful guitar is now on display at
South Campus after being shown at as part of our Art of Music patient art exhibition.

Thank you .blue for sponsoring this exhibit!
