We gave a little extra love to the horses who give so much to us!❤️🐴
This past Saturday we welcomed Danae Johnson of EquiKahu Collaborative LLC to NTRC for a special Masterson Method clinic dedicated to the incredible horses who make the programs here possible!

Volunteers and staff spent the afternoon learning new ways to support our equine partners through relaxation, connection and body awareness. Danae introduced the Masterson Method and guided us through classroom learning and hands on activities to help us better understand and support these incredible horses.
ALL of the horses had a chance to enjoy this amazing clinic including the littlest guys Pete & Snickers.🥰

🍂🐴 FUN FACT FRIDAY IS BACK! 🐴🍂

While many love Autumn seasonal changes can bring a few extra things for our equine partners to navigate.

Did you know an average adult horse can drink around 10–15 GALLONS of water a day?! And depending on the weather, activity level, and other factors, some horses need even more.🪣💧

This week was a great reminder of just how important it is to keep an eye on our herd's everyday habits. Changes in weather can affect drinking patterns and like this week a single day can see a 36° swing!

One thing we're incredibly grateful for at NTRC? Our AMAZING staff and volunteers!!❤️ They spend countless hours with the herd, getting to know each horse's personality, routines, and communication preferences. When one seems a little off, that familiarity helps recognize changes early and get veterinary guidance when needed.

So, what does hydration look like around NTRC? 💦
- Fresh, clean water in those big pasture troughs!
- Extra water mixed into those yummy mashes our horses enjoy!
- Individualized care, including electrolytes when appropriate as part of each horse's routine!
- Plenty of opportunities to move around: most of our herd lives outdoors 24/7!

And when our equine partners come inside for lessons, appointments, and other activities, we make sure they have water, salt and hay to munch on and of course lots of shavings for a comfy spot to relax while they hang out.

A HUGE thank you to our team of truly amazing staff and volunteers for knowing our horses so well and helping us give them the care they deserve. We couldn't do it without you! 💛

What an unforgettable night! 🎉 Our 2026 Evening of Hope Gala, The Art of the Horse, was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible support of Ameristar Casino and Hotel Kansas City! We're over the moon to announce that we've shattered last year's record, raising a net total of $59,900 - a whopping $4000 more than last year! 🎉 A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who joined us and supported NTRC - together, we're making a difference! 💕

What a night. 🤍🐴🎨

25 years of changing lives through the healing power of horses, and one incredible evening celebrating the people, horses, volunteers, donors, sponsors and friends who make it all possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Evening of Hope: The Art of the Horse, whether you celebrated with us in the room, bid from home, donated, volunteered, sponsored, created, cheered us on or helped bring this night to life.

We’ll have more photos and details to share soon but for now we’ll be reminiscing on a great night (and how cute Pete and Snickers were in their tuxedos!).

Here’s to 25 years of impact… and to all the beautiful things still to come. 💚

24 Hours from now we'll be celebrating our Volunteer of the Year, learning about our participant Kat's journey to NTRC and beyond, and raising funds for equine assisted services at NTRC.
