Social Health: Why Connection Is Essential to Health

We are pleased to be bringing together----for the first time in-person----three great speakers on the importance of "social health" and how our connections and relationships are essential to our wellbeing. We believe that social health is as important as mental health and physical health and is a critical component of the social prescribing movement.
Our three speakers have each had books on the topic, including two this past Summer.
The speakers are:

Kasley Killam, Author, The Art and Science of Connection: Why Social Health is the Missing Key to Living Long, Healthier and Happier

Kat Vellos, Author, We Should Get Together: The Secret to Cultivating Better Friendships.

Julia Hotz, Author,The Connection Cure: The Prescriptive Power of Movement, Nature, Art, Service, and Belonging.

in conversation with
Vicki Larson, Former editor, writer and columnist, Marin Independent Journal. Author of LATitude: How You Can Make a Live Apart Together Relationship Work

I want to offer you a special $5 ticket in the hopes that you will join us. It should be a great event, and a great way to continue to build a local and national network of people committed to social health and social prescribing.

Just in time for our inaugural U.S. Social Prescribing Day celebration tomorrow, I was quoted in Forbes about the potential role of social prescribing in helping address our challenges with aging in the U.S. and abroad and helping our struggling clinicians. https://www.forbes.com/sites/sophieokolo/2024/03/13/can-global-population-aging-spark-new-partnership-models/?sh=2dbb0e72720a

Check out and participate in our in-person (SF) event (6pm PT) and virtual webinar (1pm PT) tomorrow. All the details are at SocialPrescribingDayUSA.com.

Addressing population aging will require concerted efforts by communities and governments to empower older adults everywhere to choose how they age and lead their lives.

The NOAH member network is full of arts in health professionals doing exciting work to improve health and wellbeing! Deborah Hopkins, an artist and workshop manager at Kids & Art Foundation, shared:

"We have returned to in-person art workshops at Stanford's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Ca. We hold weekly workshops at their pediatric oncology waiting room where children & their families are waiting for doctor, lab, and infusion appointments. We are thrilled to be back in-person."

Give their page a follow! :) You can see other arts in health programs around the country via our map of the field: https://thenoah.net/map-of-the-field/ #!map
