Celebrating National Dictionary Day by honoring the ultimate toolkit for lifelong learning! πŸ“šβœοΈ

At Delco Literacy, we know that a dictionary is much more than a collection of words and definitions. It is a gateway to confidence, clearer communication, and deeper understanding. For our adult learners, mastering the tools to look up, learn, and use new vocabulary independently is a massive milestone on the path to true self-empowerment.

Every single word added to a person's vocabulary opens up a new door, whether they are writing an email, reading to their children, or studying for an exam. Today, we celebrate the simple, powerful book that helps us all find the right words to share our unique stories.

Happy National Dictionary Day from all of us at Delco Literacy! πŸ’™

πŸ”’ October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! πŸ’» At Delco Literacy, we know that true literacy in today’s world includes digital literacy.

This year’s national theme is "Don’t Make It Easy for Them," and staying safe online starts with a few simple, everyday habits:

1️⃣ Use strong, unique passwords πŸ”‘
2️⃣ Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) πŸ›‘οΈ
3️⃣ Recognize and report suspicious links or phishing scams 🎣
4️⃣ Keep your software updated πŸ”„

We are proud to offer free digital literacy programs to help adults in Delaware County build the skills and confidence they need to navigate the digital world safely and thrive in the workplace.

Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read! πŸ“šπŸ”“

At Delco Literacy, our mission is to empower individuals through the power of words and language. True literacy means having the opportunity to explore diverse perspectives, ask questions, and think critically about the world around us.

When we protect the right to read, we protect the right to learn, grow, and understand one another. This Banned Books Week (October 4–10), we are standing up for everyone's right to discover new points of view without censorship.

As the week comes to a close, join us in marking Let Freedom Read Day on October 10th. This is a national day of direct action to defend our libraries, educators, and readers! Open a challenged book, speak out, and help ensure that stories stay free for all.

Happy Banned Books Week from all of us at Delco Literacy! πŸ’™

Celebrating Digital Inclusion Week by highlighting the essential connection between literacy and the digital world! πŸŒπŸ’»

At Delco Literacy, our definition of literacy goes far beyond reading pages in a book. In today's landscape, true digital inclusion means ensuring everyone in our community has access to technology, reliable internet, and the digital skills needed to navigate modern life.

From filling out a job application, accessing healthcare, or helping a child with their homework, tech skills are no longer optional. We are incredibly proud to provide supportive, free instruction that empowers adult learners to confidently log on, connect, and thrive in a digital society.

Happy Digital Inclusion Week from all of us! Let's continue working together to close the digital divide right here in Delaware County. πŸ’™
