In June of 2015, I met Michael Cimbura in Durango on the last day of the 2015 DEATH RIDE Tour VI.
The next 4 years, I would have the honor to help Mike accomplish something no ALS patient has ever done. That would to ride 235 miles over 5 mountain passes in a three wheel trike that was specially modified to accomplish this task.
Mike along with Zach Yendra rode the ALS Charity Cycling Event, DEATH RIDE Tour in 2016, 2017 & 2018. They were preparing to ride their 4th, however, on March 18, 2019 - 5 years ago, Mike lost in his battle to ALS.
Knowing Mike and his beautiful family and being able to help Mike continue to ride the Colorado mountains at speeds over 50 miles per hour with the wind in his face and his children on their bikes along side him, has been the most rewarding thing I've ever been involved in.
We all continue to think about you Mike and miss you.
Hope you are enjoying the ride in heaven.
