We urge you to support S3732 and its Assembly counterpart. Our children deserve nothing less!

When Gov. Murphy announced his 2024 fiscal year budget, it included new money for school funding. When the funding numbers were run, the formula adjustments made to some districts under S-2, combined with inflation, resulted in some districts, Ringwood included, seeing massive cuts to their school aid.

NJEA has urged the Legislature and the governor to help those districts. Write to your legislators and encourage them to restore aid to school districts that saw unexpected cuts.

Urge your legislators to support and vote yes on S3732 (and, when available, its Assembly counterpart) to restore needed funding to S-2 districts that were hit with unexpectedly large cuts this year.

Recent posts on a Ringwood community page have been brought to our attention and we must respond.

All six candidates for the board of education declared their intention to run in the election and included an email address on that paperwork. On August 28, 2022, an email was sent to all candidates requesting an interview. One member of the For the Kids slate responded by asking questions regarding the process and information that would be collected. Answers were provided but the interview was respectfully declined. One email address required correction and the invite was resent after two executive board members spoke with the candidate at the August 29th BOE meeting. No response was received from the other two candidates of the FTK slate.

Follow-up emails were sent on September 4th and September 7th to the candidates who had not responded. Interviews were conducted the following week. Two additional emails were then sent to the FTK's campaign email on September 13th and 14th. A link to our questionnaire was included in the final email. No response to any emails or the questionnaire was received by the REA from two of the FTK candidates OR to the emails sent to the campaign email address.

While no "phone or text messages" were sent to any candidates, a concerted effort was made to contact all of them for an interview at the email address provided when registering as a candidate.

Back-to-School Nights concluded district-wide at Peter Cooper, Robert Erskine, and Martin J. Ryerson last week. It was very exciting to have parents filling the hallways and tiny chairs, enthusiastically waiting to learn about what their child is learning in school. It's going to be a fantastic year!
