A follow up:

Hello all!

Just a quick reminder for those who have not yet submitted a DNA sample to the University of Minnesota for the ongoing FH research. I won't repeat everything from our earlier emails, but you can read more about the study and testing process here:

UMN: https://z.umn.edu/Eurasiers
USEC: https://www.useurasierclub.org/cholesterol

The study is going well! Thanks to the tremendous response from the Eurasier community, including several international clubs that coordinated the submission of large groups of samples, UMN is closing the sample collection period earlier than originally anticipated.

Free testing will now be available through October 30, 2026, rather than the previously announced November deadline. If you have not yet submitted your sample, please try to do so before the end of the month!

If you have already received your results, and are comfortable sharing them, please consider forwarding a copy to us here at the US Eurasier Club for our own health tracking and recordkeeping purposes. :)

Once the research sample collection period concludes, FH testing will still be available to breeders through the University of Minnesota as a paid service.

We're incredibly fortunate to have such an engaged and responsive Eurasier community, both here in the US and internationally. Thank you again to everyone who has participated, shared information, and helped support this important research!

hi all
we have a little fundraising auction going on
proceeds are a 50/50 split between our new membership engagement committee and USEC Rescue.

the fundraiser was put together by the members of the committee, which is a newer initiative - we are sending out little welcome packets and info to new puppy owners, as they're sponsored for membership by their breeders, and long-term we'd like to focus on members who are doing things with their wee doggies and congratulate them more personally from the club, as well as bereavement and sympathy gifts when a member loses a dog.

USEC Members & Eurasier Enthusiasts!
We're having our annual gathering this year in the PNW! All are welcome to attend, and though this has gone out via email to the members, we'd thought we'd share it more widely! It's a great opportunity to meet the breed for the first time & other Eurasier owners!

RSVP Link: https://forms.gle/S1RTUcvA5gND1pht5

Our formal meeting will be held virtually the week before, so this will just be a day of fun with try-its of various sports as well as demos, a lunch, a walk as well as our annual USEC Fun Match!

🧬 Eurasier Health Research 🧬

The United States Eurasier Club is working with researchers at the University of Minnesota to support an ongoing study into a newly recognized inherited form of severe hypercholesterolemia in Eurasiers.

Researchers need samples from a broad group of Eurasiers so that they can compare potentially affected dogs, their relatives, and dogs with no known cholesterol concerns.

Blood samples are preferred, but easy at-home cheek swabs are also welcome. Healthy dogs are just as important to this research as affected dogs.

We've put together everything you need-- including FAQs, forms, collection instructions, and mailing information-- here:

Every sample helps researchers better understand the health of our breed. Thank you to everyone who chooses to participate!

Eurasier owners, breeders, clubs, and researchers have a long history of working together to protect the breed we love. Every sample submitted adds another useful piece to that shared effort. We are so grateful to the International Eurasier Community who initiated this study, and to the scientists at the University of Minnesota and the University of Bern for their dedication to canine health.

We have such a wonderful, committed community in our breed and as always it is such a privilege to be able to connect our members to the breed community at large in order to meaningfully assist in the pursuit of the long-term health of the Eurasiers we all love. ☺️💕

The held a Judges Education seminar and hands on workshop in Perry, GA on April 10th. It was our first time doing so, and everyone who attended seemed to really enjoy it. There were some great questions asked and for most in the room, it was their first time meeting the breed.

Conducting Judges Ed seminars is part of the overall process toward AKC Recognition, and these are formally documented and submitted to the Judges Operations Dept with the AKC. For it to "count" there must be a minimum of four dogs present for the workshop, and we wrangled together four doggies. 😂 As it was our first go, we really wanted two keep it fun and casual for the dogs as well as their owners, and all of the judges had lovely things to say about all four individuals both physically and their charming temperaments. 🥰

We are so thankful to Pay Joyce from the GJCA (Georgia Conformation Judges Association) for helping us out this together. The presenter was Kelsey Keefe from Massachusetts () with club secretary Snowy Chen ( Magic Eurasiers, Georgia) assisting, along with the Skarrs who were so kind to bring their boy Akuma up from Florida and finally Connor with .gal from CT!
