The challenge is all about representing who you are. A “hometown” could be anywhere in the world where we identify with and feel the most comfortable. Through this challenge, we wanted to create an opportunity to see and appreciate the diverse backgrounds of not just our organization but also of students all around the world. Also, proudly representing where we come from and who we are is always fun. So join the fun and share what you rep!😎

Sometimes, international students face overwhelming obstacles beyond their control. We hope to aid students who are victims of racism, domestic violence, sexual assault, or any other form of mistreatment by connecting them to the appropriate support group and/or authorities. If you or someone you know are in need of our services, please contact us via any of our socials (Twitter/Facebook: shisasorg) or Email ([email protected]) For more info visit our website on the link in bio.

As our name “Second Home'' suggests, our goal is to help international students acclimate to life in the US so that they can successfully call it a “second home.” The word “shisas” also refers to the magical creatures from Okinawan mythology of the same name. They are a cross between a dog and a lion, believed to protect homes and fend off evil spirits. SHISAS hopes to similarly act as a guardian for any and all international students in need. If you want to join our team or are in need of our services please visit our website shisas.org !

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing international students residing in the US with free support services. As many of us in SHISAS are or once were international students ourselves, we understand how difficult life can be living in a foreign country. Something as basic as communicating with a landlord or even choosing a cell phone plan may be an overwhelming task. Our goal is to relieve some of those concerns for fellow members of our international student community. Visit our website shisas.org for more info!
