When you think you see the milk lady…

But then you remember you just ate twenty minutes ago and your belly is so big still that you can’t roll over.

You may have noticed, Encore is officially our first ever reverse polydactyl kitty, and she’s missing two toe beans. The story behind her missing toes, however, is absolutely heartbreaking. She came to the rescue at five days old with severe burns on her paws, legs, and chest. The worst of it was on her right side, and the outside toe on those two paws scabbed over and, well…. they fell off. 🤢

The good news is she has healed wonderfully and now she only has two tiny scabs on her whole body. She’ll probably completely forget the whole painful ordeal soon - especially since she was on pain meds through it all. And now she’s a gorgeous happy baby kitten 🎉

If Taylor Swift gets an Encore - so do we 🐾 ✨
Little baby Encore was brought to the San Bernardino City shelter last week. Just the day before her drop off, multiple healthy kittens were euthanized at the same shelter. We felt the pull to intervene.
When we got her, our hearts were broken to see she had burns all over the bottoms of her paws and on her chest. It was 99 degrees that day and we suspect she was dropped by mama on the hot asphalt. Imagine how scary and painful it must’ve been for little Encore - just days old, blind and deaf, and already fighting for her life.
The good news is her eyes are now open, and her blisters are healing well with medicated ointment and antibiotics. She’s a sweet girl that loves to eat and get tummy scratches. Welcome Encore! 💐 💐 💐

Indefinite Closure Announcement
Princess Donut will be the last intake of 2026 - but we still need help. We still have to cover five spay/neuter surgeries - plus the cost for Princess’ eye enucleation. We are completely out of dry food, wet food, and litter. Our co-founder hasn’t had income for more than three months while waiting for disability benefits to be approved. There is no way we can fulfill our commitment to the animals we already have if we spread ourselves anymore thin.

Therefore, we’ve decided to do something we haven’t done since we started this work in 2021 and we are stopping intake indefinitely. We both need a financial and emotional break from rescue, and in the meantime we still have several adults, young teens, and two kittens that need homes that we will continue to network and promote. Plus a Frenchie dog still waiting for a home!

Your donations and support would mean more now than ever before. We wish we could share more amazing freedom rides and success stories - but we can’t do this alone. Please please please share and consider a donation.

Slowing down can feel like failing - especially in animal rescue. There’s a constant urge to do more and punish ourselves for the sake of saving a life.

So it was heart breaking when we learned last year that my sister, and our co-founder, needed to quit her 9-5 job due to her disability. After four surgeries, her doctor was convinced stress was exacerbating her disease. And the most recent imaging revealed she was right- and likely saved my sister’s life.

The approval process for federal disability benefits is extremely slow, and in the meantime, we cannot afford to take the risks we used to make to save lives. We’re barely getting by.

We haven’t asked for donations much lately because we wish we had more NEW rescues to share. For now, we can celebrate our happy foster dog, Bowser, and the work we’ve already done - like 22 cat and dog adoptions this year already from our tiny org 🎉 Please consider supporting our work by sending us some food or litter from the wishlist ❤️

The before and after pics say it all.

After 15 days at the Corona Shelter, this Frenchie couldn’t stop trembling in fear. And his life was at risk. The staff couldn’t even get him into the play yard until today. It took all of 2 minutes for us to decide he wasn’t staying at the shelter for one more night.

To our surprise, he opted to skip the kennel and hopped right into the truck and sat in our laps. He’s now cozy in his foster home after a long, disgusting, bath.

What do we know about him so far?
🐕 Likely a senior
❤️ Good with dogs… a bit too interested in cats
🐾 Kennel, leash, potty trained
😭 Adopted from OC area shelter last year and no response from prior owners

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about this angel. He was so let down by his humans, and in his golden years. He’ll never go through this again.

Just a baby ‼️ ✨ 🥹

Princess Donut has doubled in size since we found her last month trotting along the side of a busy road with her eyes sealed shut. Now she’s almost ready to be spayed (and her ruptured eye will be enucleated).

Who wants to adopt this precious girl??? Adopters must be in Southern California and must have another cat at home.

Lil Man had a BIG day! After spending a month in the high kill shelter, and then almost four months in foster, he finally has his happy ending 🏰 ✨ 💖 🐾
