๐จ ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: TEEPOP
Shades of Black is more than film. This yearโs showcase also features visual art by local Black artists whose work expands the conversation beyond the screen.
Meet Teepop, a Miami-based portrait artist and graphic designer whose work blends fine art and design to create layered visual stories.
Born in Pittsburgh and shaped by time in New York and more than two decades in Miami, Teepop has been drawing portraits since childhood. Her work moves between cultural icons and everyday people, using portraiture not simply to capture likeness, but to reveal something deeper about the person and the story they carry.
Working across acrylic, oil, spray paint, graphite, pencil, and mixed processes, Teepop creates portraits that feel less like static images and more like visual biographies.
See her work as part of the visual art spotlight at Shades of Black Film Showcase 2026.
