Mentorship isn't just "nice to have," it is essential for our next generation to succeed ✅

Findings from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America 2025 Youth Mentorship Access Report, conducted by The Harris Poll, expose a career confidence crisis among youth. The survey was conducted online by The Harris Poll on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America in May 2025, among more than 1,000 U.S. adults between the ages of 18 and 25 representing different demographics, life paths and geographies.

Today’s young people are facing a job market unlike any other generation – with more uncertainty and fewer support systems. Our research shows that a single meaningful conversation can change the course of a young person’s life, and every young person should have access to mentorship.

🔑 KEY FINDINGS: A Generation Searching for Guidance, Ready for Mentorship

Young people aren’t just seeking career advice – or for older adults to solve their problems for them. They are hungry for authentic, in-person connections with adults who can guide them on everything from financial planning to life skills. When asked what really matters in a mentor, it was the soft “durable” skills like honesty, communication, and empathy that topped the list – outranking even professional success or industry expertise.

What a way to kick off summer! ☀️Our Bigs and Littles had an unforgettable time experiencing Glow or Go Orlando, racing through interactive challenges, working together as a team, and bringing color back to a lifeless world. From laughter and friendly competition to confidence-building moments, it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year!

Meet our dynamic double duos: Big Brother Nick & Little Brother Arazi AND Big Sister Jamie & Little Sister Amora 🤙🫶

Some matches are extra special, and this is one of them. ✨
Nick and Arazi were matched for their shared love of fishing and reptiles 🎣🦎. Nick even has reptiles of his own, and Arazi is fascinated by them!

Meanwhile, Jamie and Amora connected through their love of arts and crafts 🎨✂️, creating the perfect foundation for a creative and fun-filled match.

But what makes these matches truly unique is the connection between both families. Jamie and Nick are a couple, while Arazi and Amora are siblings. And in a full-circle moment, Arazi and Amora's mom was once a Little herself, experiencing the impact of mentorship growing up. 💫

It's Spotlight 🎓 Today we’re celebrating Little Brother ‘Niko’, one of our incredible Class of 2026 graduates!

Matched with Big Brother Holden since March 2018, this duo is a true testament to the lasting impact of mentorship 💚

💬 Recently when asked “Do you have anything you’d like to share about your experience with Big Brothers Big Sisters?”

Niko answered, “I would say that the program gives you a chance, in my opinion, to get a feel for your own personality if that makes sense - what you’re into, trying new things with your Big - that plays a big part you know in the matchmaking. I know it helped me a lot when I was younger because I was always active but I had no one to be active with. There's not a lot of kids where I lived, so linking up with my Big Brother was helpful because we both have the same interests, we’re both outgoing and we’re both adventurous!”

From his early days in the program to now, it’s been an honor to watch his journey unfold. 💫 Niko, you are going to do amazing things!
