A Prayer for Election Day: Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the U.S. in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

TOMORROW: Grassroots Housing Justice: An ECS-NJ Leadership Meeting
Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 PM Eastern on zoom

Whether you’re an experienced advocate or completely new to housing justice, your voice is needed! ECS-NJ invites all church leaders and interested individuals to a virtual meeting designed as an open platform for discussion and brainstorming.

Together, we’ll explore how faith communities can rally to support NJ Bill S1836 (Yes in God’s Backyard), which aims to empower faith-based and nonprofit organizations to build affordable housing directly on their properties by streamlining local zoning rules. We’ll also share updates on county Homeless Trust Funds and discuss practical ways to organize at the local level. Because this conversation covers both long-term organizing and immediate action, we highly encourage participation from anyone interested in grassroots advocacy, as well as congregations that feel ready to take the next steps toward implementing this housing legislation.
