In 1971, Lydell Mitchell set three NCAA season records with 29 touchdowns, 26 rushing touchdowns and 174 points. He earned First Team All-American honors at Penn State and went on to a nine-year NFL career with three Pro Bowl selections. In 2004, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Zane Hummel was always an athlete. He broke school records in the long jump and sprints and was on track to compete at Penn State.

Then a motorcycle accident changed everything.

Zane found his way back through Penn State Adaptive Athletics. He's back on the track, training with teammates, and setting his sights on competing again.

Penn State legend. NFL All-Pro. Grammy Award winner.

Mike Reid has never done anything halfway. A unanimous All-American defensive tackle at Penn State, he won the Outland Trophy, finished fifth in Heisman voting, and was a first-round NFL draft pick. After five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and two Pro Bowl selections, he walked away from football to pursue music, and went on to write some of country music's biggest hits, including Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Meet Max Malec '29, a two-sport athlete and the first official signee of our program's modern era.

Whether he's on the ice or in the throwing circle, Max brings a competitive edge to the Nittany Lions. Beyond athletics, he is pursuing a career in media as a co-host for a sports-focused podcast.

Fun fact: Max is co-host of the Gloves Off podcast and was the first recruit of the 2029 Penn State Adaptive Athletics class.

Meet Max Malec '29.

Max is a two-sport athlete from Scranton, PA, and a piece of Penn State Adaptive Athletics history: he was the first official signee of the program's modern era.

On the ice, he plays sled hockey. On the field, he competes in shot put. Off it, he co-hosts "Gloves Off" podcast. Max brings a competitive edge to the Nittany Lions, and he is helping tell the story of what this program is building.

The 3rd Annual We Are Family event with Terry Smith is July 25 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Dinner, live entertainment from Mike Reid, a Letterman Panel moderated by Steve Jones, and a room full of Penn Staters who care about this program.

Last year 275 supporters packed the room. This year we are building on that.
