Summer Lunch – June 16

Take a break in the middle of your day and join Alicia Anderson, campus minister, and other students for lunch on Tuesday, June 16 in the lobby of the Kern Building! Bring your lunch along or pick up something from the Panera there! Alicia will be there from 12 noon – 1:15 pm or so! Whether you are taking classes, doing research, or working this summer, stop by!

Congratulations on your Penn State graduation, .iller! Annika earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and plans to serve as a nurse in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, California.

During her time at Penn State, Annika enjoyed running, hiking, and skiing in the beautiful landscapes surrounding campus. Evening worship services at Grace Lutheran were a meaningful part of her experience with Lutheran at Penn State. Blessings and much joy in all that lies ahead! 💙

judge or love?

For humans, judging often gets in the way of loving others. People in my life persist in doing things that can irritate or frustrate or anger me. People are also acting in ways that could lead me to have compassion for them or offer care. I can judge them or I can love them. In this week's gospel, the Pharisees (perennial opponents of what Jesus is doing because he keeps breaking the rules) see Jesus eating with "many tax collectors and sinners" which we understand to mean people who were not acceptable to the religious leaders, since they are not following the law....

God of love, It is so easy for me to judge and turn away from people I don't appreciate. I want to reject people I don't understand. You invite, you urge, you call me to love. Empower me to set aside judging. Help me see the ways even people I don't like need care. Help me see how I can love them and help bring healing....

Congratulations on your Penn State graduation, ! Thomas received his Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and plans to pursue a Master’s in Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Thomas especially enjoyed performing Considering Matthew Shepard with Penn State Concert Choir and fondly remembers singing “Silent Night” by candlelight at Christmastime. Blessings and much joy in all that lies ahead!💙

Christians teach that God is one being in three persons: Father/Creator, Son/Jesus, Spirit/Breath. It’s not that there are three gods – God is just one, and yet God is three. Of course, that is absurd and it doesn’t make sense. And yet, it is what we teach and what we profess to believe in our statements of faith. God is complicated and beyond human understanding....
