The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State is a membership-based, volunteer-driven organization that offers members of the community —age 50 years and better — the opportunity to learn, explore, and connect with other curious adults. A unique partnership between Penn State’s Intensive English Communication Program (IECP) and OLLI at Penn State brought together international students and lifelong learners to share stories, build friendships and strengthen intercultural communication skills.

Over eight weeks, IECP students and OLLI volunteers collaborated on oral history and digital storytelling projects, creating meaningful connections across generations and cultures. The experience gave students valuable real-world practice in academic English while fostering community, confidence and mutual understanding.

Last month, OLLI members gathered at The Rivet for a creative, hands-on experience designing one-of-a-kind glass coasters. Participants explored the art of fused glass by cutting, layering, and combining colorful glass powders and pieces into unique creations they could proudly take home.

Courses like these are just one example of the engaging, interactive learning experiences OLLI offers — where creativity, community, and lifelong learning come together. From artistic workshops to skill-building classes and new hobbies, there’s always something inspiring to discover.

Summer semester at University Park is coming in hot! 35 in-person courses, along with a wide variety of online options. Plus, enjoy a lineup of social events—from Dinner and a Movie to miniature golf, a 9-hole golf scramble, and a sing-along. Don’t forget our special interest groups, ranging from biking and book clubs to a brand-new pinochle group.

Make the most of your summer—discover something new, meet great people, and have a little fun along the way. Courses will be available to view online mid-May with registration opening for members on June 1.
