Monday at PSU Greater Allegheny, six PSEAS alumni engineers (ME/BioMed, NucE, EE, CE, IE, ESM) participated in a QnA panel with 24 first-year Engineering students. They discussed engineering careers, networking, mentoring, career development, alumni APG programs, interacting with professors and TA’s, trends in AI and nuclear engineering, and much more. Recognizing Penn State early-career engineering leadership! The College of Engineering and PSEAS are accepting Early Career Award nominations. Established in 2020, this honor celebrates outstanding engineering alumni who demonstrate exceptional leadership in their profession, community, and ongoing connection to Penn State.

Eligibility: PSU engineering degree within the last 18 years.

Nominations from anyone in the PSU community, including faculty, staff, and alumni. The nominator does not have to be associated with the College of Engineering and no limit to the number of entries each nominator submits.

Selection based on Representation of Penn State’s core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, discovery, excellence, and community; Commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the college; Success in professional experience and education, community service and involvement, and career and professional leadership.

PSEAS Tailgate 2026 held on September 4th was AWESOME!!!! 216+ attendees and record number of auction items to raise money for the PSEAS Endowed Scholarship for engineering students. Great food and drink. Wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, meet CoE students, and have a great time. For those unable to attend, we missed you and hope you’ll be able to join us in 2027. Checkout pictures showing all the fun!!!

Fifteen Penn Staters were named 2026 Alumni Fellows at the NLI on Wed. 9/23, among them are two PSEAS Past Presidents, Jonathan U. Dougherty ’99 Eng, ’06g Eng and Casey A. Moore ’89 Eng. The Alumni Fellow Award is the most prestigious award given by PSAA. Since 1973, 900+ alumni have received the honor, the Alumni Fellow Award has been given to alumni who, as leaders in their professional fields, are nominated by an academic college and accept an invitation from the President of the University to return to campus to share their expertise with students, faculty, and administrators. Please reach out to Casey and Jonathan to congratulate them! WE ARE!

Jonathan is VP of Providence Engineering’s Strategic Initiatives. He leads recruiting, talent development, marketing, and organizational development. Previously, he worked 17 years with James G. Davis Construction, where he created their corporate university management programs and expanded workforce development programs. Known as “The Button Man” for his extensive PSU football button collection, he has also held multiple Penn State alumni leadership roles.

Casey is Bowman Consulting Group’s EVP national market sector leader for transportation services. With 35+ years experience in transportation engineering and infrastructure, he has held leadership roles with industry organizations and provided longstanding service to PSU College of Engineering, PSEAS, and PSU Alumni Council. Casey is a Penn State Alumni Association life member.

Introducing “Engineering Connect, A Student’s Guide to Penn State Engineering and Alumni Groups”. Previously and affectionately known as “Hollywood Squares”, PSEAS Alumni developed the format and created QR codes linked to engineering major’s academic plan. The chart is printed on poster board and used at events when alumni interact with students and discuss engineering major selection.

Cool events at the Learning Factory open to Alumni! Located Engineering, Design, and Innovation (EDI) Building’s 4th floor,

Thurs 9/24 4:00-6:00pm: Special Closed Shop Open House. Explore the space, meet the students and organizations that bring it to life, and see where engineering ideas become real-world projects.

Fri 9/25 2:30-4:30pm: “BUILD Night: Make It. Take It”. Students and guests participate in an afternoon of making, experimenting, and problem solving. Get an up-close look at the tools and equipment students use to turn ideas into reality and then put those tools to work yourself. Every participant will build a hands-on project to take home.
