From the recently published chapbook titled "The Outline of Outside," from residents at the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Center.

When I Go Home

I want to
go home

and see my family
and hug my
parents.

I want to
go home and call
my girlfriend's
phone.

I want to
go home and
hug my dog.

I want to
go home to my
cozy bed where
I will rest my
head.

Join us in appreciating this poem about grief, spirituality, and growth in the face of hardships - something all of us can relate to.

This was written by one of our residents in our poetry workshops. Every dollar we earn goes back into these workshops to foster deeper reflections and literacy.

Thank you to all who attended our annual 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk for Juvenile Justice!

Attendees enjoyed a cool April morning, music, catching up with old friends, and a wonderful trail up Clark Field.

Every dollar raised at this event goes towards teaching artists, chapbooks, and the futures of our residents. We could not be more grateful to our supporters!

Couldn't make it? Stay tuned for more events coming this summer!

Writers in Residence cordially invites you to Remaining Native - a documentary told from the perspective of Ku Stevens.

It is a story of struggle, grief, hope, collegiate athletics, and what it means to carry a legacy.

It is showing at Cedar Lee and Playhouse Square this weekend. We would love to see you there.
