I’m so excited to be spending my summer in Cleveland! This summer I’ll be interning at the Fatima Family Center, where I’ll have the opportunity to work with an organization that serves the Hough community through educational programs, recreational activities, community events, and supportive services for people of all ages. As a Sociology and Criminology major with minors in Peace, Justice & Human Rights and Law & Society, I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned in the classroom while gaining hands-on experience. I’m especially excited to experience a Cleveland summer for the first time and can’t wait to see what this opportunity brings!

Today’s Takeover: My name is Grace Merchant, a senior biology major interning with UH Rainbow Connects at the UH Rainbow Ahuja Center for Women & Children. This program connects patients to resources like food, baby supplies, and transportation. I am so excited to spend the rest of my internship working directly with patients and helping support their needs!

Hi everyone! My name is Maeve and i’ll be taking over the CSSA instagram today! I’m a rising senior Sociology and Criminology major with minors in political science and peace justice and human rights! This summer I was placed at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, a nonprofit social network in cleveland, with specialties and programs in housing , youth development and support, workforce development and guardianship services. I work in the civic engagement office, where my team communicates with public officials, keeps LMM updates on ongoing policy, and hosts events! I’m so excited to take you through a typical day!

It is an educational and residential non profit that enriches middle schoolers and high schoolers to become career ready, and academically prepared men and women. I’ve really enjoyed connecting with our scholars and other staff members throughout the summer.

This summer I am interning at Global Cleveland, a non-profit economic development agency that works to boost the region’s population and economy by attracting, welcoming, and connecting international newcomers! We partner with dozens of organizations across housing, education, business, and government to build a coordinated support system for international newcomers. This summer, I am very excited to interact with and support various immigrant communities around Cleveland and to volunteer for The People's Distro! Come spend a workday with me to see what happens on a day-to-day basis and take a look into Summer in the Land!
