From October 2 to 4, 2026, students from Catholic campuses across the country gathered in the Chicago area for the Cabrini Student Organizing Summit on Migration, a weekend hosted by the Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN). Read more about it at: igsol.net/cabrini
"I just loved the community building throughout the weekend. I could feel the passion for social change from the presenters as they were presenting at each session, and it was truly inspiring to get to be a part of it this weekend with such a great community,” said Lily Titus of Creighton University, who attended as a representative of both her school and Jesuit Refugee Service/USA
"Learning about Power as something can can be used for good, especially to move our world towards justice and love, impacted how I want to move forward towards immigration justice,” shared Tadia Hernández of Regis University.
“Something I am taking away from the summit is that accompaniment is not just about providing someone with a resource or telling them where to go for help. It is about actually being present with people and walking alongside them. That changed the way I think about immigration justice," shared Karoline Chidester of Loyola University Chicago.
ISN is mobilizing the Cabrini Week of Action for Migration Justice this November in celebration of St. Frances Cabrini's feast day, inviting Catholic high schools and colleges to pray, learn, and act on behalf of immigrants and refugees.
As Cardinal Blase Cupich preached on the same weekend as the Summit, "The Word of God given to us today makes clear that our advocacy on behalf of immigrants is no less important for our discipleship of Jesus than our worship"
