*** Caution: Elevated Fire Danger This Week ***

Good evening, friends!

I do have an important weather message tonight. With widespread Moderate Drought conditions for all local counties working in tandem with an increasingly very warm and dry air mass, I have at least some concern for fire danger this week. This is important to discuss as we don't want our local firefighters to respond for an excessive amount of field or grass fire calls.

The concern will last all week long (Monday through Friday). The moderate drought has dried out vegetation and soil significantly, providing ample dry fuels for fires. Additionally, the very warm and dry air mass will enable fires to spread. The good news is that wind speeds will be very light, and this will prohibit a serious fire weather outbreak.

Nonetheless, anything that sparks could result in a fast-evolving fire. As a result, there are some tips we can follow to help prevent this. First, please refrain and avoid open burning as much as possible. Also, be mindful of any objects that could cause a spark. Properly dispose any ci******es, and do not dispose any flammable material on the ground.

Once again, the fire threat is not tremendously high, but it's elevated enough that I feel a mention is warranted. Please be safe!
