Blue skies, blue water, and a pretty great way to spend a summer day! ☀️💦

Yesterday, our Fayette Resources Wellness Group hosted its second annual pool party at Flatwoods Pool, bringing together people from our Fayette and Allegheny Regions for an afternoon of swimming, sunshine, and fun.

We are incredibly grateful to Flatwoods Pool for welcoming us back for another year and for always being so accommodating and helpful as we plan this event. Their support helps make the day one everyone can simply enjoy.

And a huge thank you to the Fayette Resources employees who came out to support the event, join in the fun, and help make the day run smoothly. Days like this take a team, and we appreciate everyone who helped make our second pool party a success!

Already looking forward to year three! ☀️🌊

Amanda is having a great summer!

First up: prom! Amanda attended the Special Needs Prom in Connellsville with her date, Harley. She looked beautiful in her red gown, and the two made a great pair for a night of dressing up, dancing, and fun.

Then came another first — a trip to Idlewild! Amanda spent the day exploring the amusement park and even faced her fear of water. In the photo afterward, she stands with her hand on her hip, smiling, with the water behind her—clearly proud of what she had just done. And she should be proud!

From getting dressed up for prom to trying something that made her nervous, Amanda has packed a lot into her summer.

And honestly? We’re just loving every moment of it ❤️

Remember the garden our Wellness Group planted at the Fayette Resources main office? It’s growing — and so is the team taking care of it! 🌱

Every weekday, someone from a different department is paired with a person we support to meet at the garden at 10 a.m. Together, they water, w**d, and make sure everything gets the attention it needs.

And all that teamwork is paying off! Since mid-July, people throughout our Fayette Region have been enjoying fresh vegetables picked right from the garden. 🍅🥒

The routine has been going strong for weeks, and even more people have been asking how they can get involved.

It sounds like next year we’re going to need a bigger garden! 🌻

Thank you to everyone who has helped plant, tend, harvest, and enjoy what we’ve grown together!

The Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act is gaining momentum!

This important legislation would establish a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for Direct Support Professionals, formally recognizing the DSP profession as distinct from other caregiving roles. It’s a critical step toward improving workforce data, strengthening advocacy efforts, and ensuring the essential work of DSPs is recognized.

Now is the time to make your voice heard. Click the link below to send a letter to your elected officials urging them to support this legislation. It only takes a few minutes, but your message can make a meaningful difference.

Please take a moment to send your letter of support today. Every voice counts.

The bipartisan Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act urges the Office of Management and Budget to establish a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for direct support professionals (DSPs).

Prior to this he was most recently the Director of the Western Pennsylvania Regional ASERT Collaborative at UPMC Western Behavioral Health’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

CONFERENCE SESSION SPOTLIGHT! 📢

Improving Crisis and Emergency Care for Neurodiverse Individuals

Speaker: Ryan Cramer, LSW

Description: Encountering EMS, Police, and the Emergency Department can be a chaotic and unpredictable experience. For neurodiverse and autistic people, who often have social communication challenges, restrictive behaviors, and sensory concerns this environment has an even greater impact on the person's experience. Care delivery also has unique challenges for this group: neurodivergent people may experience stress in circumstances where others don't, find it difficult to express their needs or have difficulties with self-regulation. Social, communication, and environmental accommodations in these environments will be reviewed. Through lecture, discussion, and case presentations, participants will recognize how and why the needs of autistic individuals can be difficult to identify and may lead to contributing to adverse events. Strategies that EMS, police, and healthcare professionals can use to reduce risk and improve safety for autistic individuals in the acute care setting will be identified.

Fayette Resources is pleased to announce that Georgiana (Georgie) Provance, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Communications, has been elected to serve a three-year term on ANCOR’s Board of Representatives beginning October 1, 2026.

Selected by ANCOR member organizations in Pennsylvania, Georgie will serve as one of three representatives from the Commonwealth. ANCOR’s Board of Representatives serves as a conduit for the exchange of information, ideas, and concerns between the national association and its members in each represented state.

Georgie brings extensive experience in government relations, communications, and grassroots advocacy, along with a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing community-based disability service providers. Through her involvement with Fayette Resources, PAR, and ANCOR, she has worked to strengthen relationships, elevate provider perspectives, and advance policies that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the DSP workforce that makes community services possible.

In this role, Georgie will represent not only Fayette Resources but also Pennsylvania’s broader community of ANCOR member organizations.

We congratulate Georgie on this meaningful recognition of her leadership and advocacy.

Some moments don’t need words. ❤️

During a recent visit to Stoneybrook Farm, Noelle enjoyed everything the experience had to offer. She got to know the horses, joined activities, and saddled up.

As the ride came to an end, Noelle stepped off her horse, wrapped her DSP in a hug, and looked up with a smile that said it all.

Thank you to the team at Stoneybrook Farm for creating such a welcoming and meaningful experience. We are grateful for community partners who share their time, expertise, and care with the people we support.

Sometimes the best part of the day is seeing the joy it brings.
