I’m so thankful for this crew right here! I couldn’t have done park if it wasn’t for them. They were amazing and I appreciate them so much! For two years I pretty much had the same crew and I loved them dearly. I was a little apprehensive about this year because I knew I was going to have a brand new crew. But man, they were absolutely fantastic! The showed up on time, ready to work, took pleasure in playing with the kids and always had a joke or a laugh ready. I’m going to miss our days together but I wish them an amazing year! Manny, Zy, No No, Jules, Jay, Dee( missing from photo) and Cam, whether you were a PIC worker or a community volunteer, y’all made my days easier and I am so grateful to y’all! Love y’all truly! ❤️

We capped the day off with an awesome Spoken Word event. If you missed it, you really missed something powerful! We had performances by Spoken Word artists Selah Martin, Albino Christ, ImaGination, Keturah (Coach K), and Tye Noel. For the open mic portion, we had the pleasure of hearing from Jeffrey Jenkins, Virginia Martin, and Dom Neal. And probably my favorite part of the night was a song by little Miss Tristan! She is a true gem!!! I want to thank everyone who came out to enjoy the event. I hope you all had as good a time as I did. And I really want to thank Dijon from Move With Peace for collaborating with me and putting this together! It was an amazing evening, for sure! I'm looking forward to doing it again next year!

Today was the last day at the park. We gifted the children journals, for them to write any and all thoughts during the school year and come back next summer and share it. The journals were donated by Council woman Angela Brown and we are so grateful for that! The kids first entry was “What is your favorite summer program memory?”

What’s on the menu for today: taco bar for lunch and whatever the kids want to do on the last day! They control the narrative today!!! Then we are ending with a Spoken Word event, co hosted with Move With Peace! That starts at 6:00pm. So come out for an awesome finish to a great year! See y’all at the park at 1!

The eve of the end is upon lol. Tomorrow is the last official day of the park summer program. But oh what day it will be. For lunch we are having a taco bar/watermelon/ice cream and other treats. The kids will also get to choose whatever activities they want to do. And to cap the evening off we are having a Spoken Word Event, co hosted by Move With Peace starting at 6:00 pm. Come out and enjoy the last day of the season! See y’all at the park at 1!
