Moose Mountains Regional Greenways

Moose Mountains Regional Greenways Conserving land & natural resource areas in the Moose Mountains of New Hampshire.
(1)

Moose Mountains Regional Greenways was founded in 1999 by conservation commissioners and planning board members from the towns of Brookfield, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, and Wakefield. The newly-formed group named itself after the Moose Mountains range central to the region. Today this grassroots, membership-driven organization represents a dynamic collaboration between community le

aders, private landowners, concerned citizens, and public and private conservation organizations. The Town of Wolfeboro was added in 2009, and Tuftonboro and Ossipee were added in 2021.

It’s been a big week at the Charles C. Norman Munroe Preserve. With the generous help of five dedicated volunteers, we installed a new kiosk to replace the one that had fallen last year. Today, volunteers were back out on the River Trail, restoring sections of the path, and adding signage to other trails. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who gives their time and energy to keep places like this thriving for the whole community to enjoy!

Wow! The Lovell Lake community and beyond showed up in full force this past Saturday for the first Hraba Forest spring clean‑up. Thanks to everyone who so generously donated their time, the much-needed trail clearing was light work! It was wonderful to see not only the impact this property has on the community, but also the impact the community has on the property. Thank you!

This year marked an exciting milestone as we reached our 25/25 goal—expanding our conservation footprint by 25% by the end of 2025. Now with more than 5,000 acres permanently conserved, this achievement reflects the power of community support and shared commitment.

This progress includes incredible projects like the Bicksler Easement in Tuftonboro, NH, protecting over 1,100 feet of frontage along the Melvin River, and the Hraba Forest in Wakefield, NH, protecting over 130 acres entirely within the Lovell Lake watershed.

We also continued to grow our educational outreach through impactful events, including the spring Moose Talk, the annual Woods, Water, and Wildlife Festival, and the Forest Management Walk at Teneriffe Mountain Forest with forester Tim Nolin, which highlighted ongoing stewardship work on the land.

Underlying all of these achievements is the invaluable collaboration we share with local organizations and community members. We are deeply grateful for your support and partnership—none of this would be possible without you!
