New Jersey Clean Communities is a statewide, comprehensive, litter-abatement program created by the passage of the Clean Communities Act in 1986. The Act provides a funding source for the program and guidelines for the use of funds. Municipalities and counties receive Clean Communities grants in the form of state-aid each year. Funding is also allocated to the state parks service and the Clean Com

munities Council. Our mission is to reduce litter on public places, promote the volunteer cleanup of public lands and sustain a reduction in litter through education. is the 501c3 nonprofit that works closely with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Department of Treasury to administer the Clean Communities program. New Jersey Clean Communities is also home to New Jersey’s Adopt-A-Beach and Adopt-A-Highway programs.

Call for Speakers: 5th Annual SIMs Conference

The Association of New Jersey Recyclers and the New Jersey Clean Communities Council are seeking abstracts for the 5th Annual SIMs Conference, taking place March 3–5, 2027, at Caesars Atlantic City Resort.

We welcome individual presenters and panel proposals focusing on sustainability, reuse programs, food waste management, litter abatement, plastics policy, and innovative outreach strategies.

Abstracts must be 150 words or less and include key takeaways, author details, a brief bio, and a headshot.
