unionspringsalabama.com Union Springs, a small historic town, is the county seat of Bullock County. Located in southeast Alabama, it is less than an hour's drive from Montgomery.

The Tourism Council of Bullock County presents Union Springs, AL, well known for its beautiful surrounding countryside with its many hunting preserves, stately antebellum homes, historic buildings, famous bird dog statue, & the Red Door Theatre. A quick tour around picturesque downtown and the surrounding residential streets illustrates what makes it uniquely and genuinely Southern. From antebellu

m homes to one of the oldest jails in the state to cemeteries dating back nearly 200 years, Union Springs is a showplace of Southern history, architecture, and charm. The community's Red Door Theatre, established in 2002 and located in a 100 year old, former Episcopal Church, rapidly received an outstanding reputation as a quality regional theatre, offering audiences the opportunity to experience entertaining productions in an intimate 160-seat setting. The theatre’s mission is to celebrate the region’s heritage, culture, and future—every year, four plays are produced with each having a cherished connection to the South and her citizens. Recreationally, Bullock County is widely recognized as the Bird Dog Field Trial Capital of the World. Each February, people come from near and far to participate in the largest and most prestigious amateur bird dog field trial held, the National Amateur Free-for-All at famous Sedgefield Plantation. The central Alabama climate is excellent for year-round outdoor activities, and the area has some of the best hunting and fishing in the South. Deer, fox, quail, dove, and turkey are harvested in this very active hunting community, and local lakes have produced record catches of bass, bream and catfish! Visitors also come to Union Springs for its annual festivals, including the Chunnenuggee Fair (April) and Veterans Day (November), as well as to tour the historic town.

Such a delightful afternoon at the Red Door Theatre’s Alabama Voices Series featuring Dolores Hydock presenting the storytelling genius of Norman Rockwell.

It was an inspiring celebration of art, history, humor, and the beauty of everyday American life! 🖼️
