Shortly after its incorporation in 1902, the Society purchased a tract of land west of Union Grove to create Old Settler's Park. Meetings were held there in the summer at a pavillion.

Old Settler's of Racine County had long reminisced about the pioneer days when they met at social gatherings, and had, with this notice begun the motions which would result in the establishement of The Old Settler's Society.

The Racine Mercantile Building was built out of neccessity by city merchants in 1927. After some repairs and restoratio,n "The Merc" now houses displays of historic significance during the Racine County Fair, July 23-27.

Initially, The Rock's location was near an old entrance to Old Settler's Park. Not attracting much attention or drawing many visitors, The Rock has since moved to the center of the park and now serves as a meeting place for friends and family.

THE BEGINNING OF THE SOCIETY: On March 14, 1870, a simple notice was posted at the Racine County Courthouse. It read:
All residents of Racine County who have been in the state for more than thirty years are invited to meet at the courthouse on Monday evening, March 14, 1870 for the purpose of organizing an Old Settler's Society.
