📚 4-H Record Book Reminder! 📚
It’s almost time! 📝✨ Please ask club leaders, parents, or volunteers to drop off record books at the Extension Office during the week of September 1 so we can begin scoring.
Need help getting books to us? Just reach out—we’re happy to help!
🐄 Attending a fair? Youth participating in the Yakima Valley Fair & Rodeo or Central Washington State Fair may keep their record books until after their fair. But please turn them in as soon as possible afterward. The 4-H year ends September 30, and we need time to score books and process awards before our November 1 Awards Dinner! 🏆💚
🏅 Medal of Honor: Youth who would like to be considered must submit the Medal of Honor Recommendation Form with their record book or complete the form online. Both versions can be found on our website at https://extension.wsu.edu/yakima/2017/10/09/medal-of-honor/
👥 Adult volunteers are needed! Please consider helping us score record books this September. Contact Autumn Britt at [email protected] to schedule a time.

🍀Are you a 4-H Volunteer over 21 in WA State that would like to certified to teach Shooting Sports or renew your previous certification, this is the training for you. Save the Date - Shooting Sports Level 1 Training, Whidbey Island coming in November! 🎯

Disciplines offered: Archery, Riflery, Shotgun, Pistol, Muzzleloading.

Registration opens October 15th and closes November 2nd in 4-H Online at Shooting Sports Level 1 Whidbey November 2026. There will be limited spots available, so register early!

Friday, November 6th 6:00-8:00 pm - Zoom Classroom Training
Saturday, November 7th - in-person - Shooting Sports disciplines will be added soon!
Sunday, November 8th - in person - Shooting Sports disciplines will be added soon!

Hours are 8 am - 5 pm with a working lunch.

Cost: to be determined.

Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

Teens Helping Teens is a statewide youth driven program that tackles important topics in our local and state community. Past youth have championed a wide range of topics, from Drug take back events, Mental Health Awareness, to Substance Abuse Prevention.

Members in the past have gone on to present their creations at state and national events. Teens Helping Teens is now looking for passionate teens that are interested in making a difference in their community.

Open to all Poultry youth in Washington State at the WA State Fair! Registration closes August 15th!

Washington Junior Poultry Exhibition is inviting all youth ages 5-18 in Washington State to participate in the upcoming 80th Celebratory Show of Washington Junior Poultry Exposition, an APA Style Show taking place from September 23-27 at the Washington State Fair in Barn A.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for youth to showcase their hard work and connect with other poultry enthusiasts from across the region. We look forward to seeing the diversity of breeds your members have been raising.

Event Highlights & Educational Opportunities:
Premium Points: All participants will receive premium points for their entries. I have attached our comprehensive Premium Guide to this email for your reference.
APA Style Judging: We have the showmanship judge and the poultry judge secured for our show.

Judging Contest: We will be hosting a Judging Contest for ages 8-18.
Educational Posters: each participant is required to bring an educational poster to display.

Fun Contests: Beyond the show ring, we have several fun contests planned to keep the weekend high-energy and engaging for all ages.
Birdsmanship: Each participant will get to interact with the public, care for the poultry, and practice their public speaking skills in their one hour per day birdsmanship shift.

Vet Check: Please remind your members that the mandatory Vet Check will take place on the evening of September 22nd or morning of September 23rd.

🐴Please help spread the word! The Washington State 4-H Equine Judges Committee is excited to offer a Judges training October 31 and November 1, at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington. 🍀

This will coincide with the Snohomish County 4-H Fall Performance Show which should allow several opportunities to view and discuss actual 4-H classes in action. We will also have access to the club room for further discussion and presentation opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for returning judges to catch up on recent rule changes, as well anyone wanting to become a judge to get started on their path.
