Rail-Trail Council

Rail-Trail Council The Rail-Trail Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation begun in 1991 to attempt the purchase of local abandoned railbeds.

It began as a very small grass-roots organization and now has over 1400 members and supporters. The RTC is located trailside along our D&H rail trail in Union Dale at 948 North Main Street, next to the Cables General Store. In our short history, we have acquired 38 miles of the historic Delaware & Hudson railbed, and we have an easement to use 8 miles of the parallel Ontario & Western railbed as a

recreational trail. We are also working on improving the 10-mile Endless Mountains Trail in Montrose, PA. For more information about us and our trails, please visit www.neparailtrails.org

D&H Rail-Trail north of Herrick Center is now open after the repair. Thanks to D&D Excavating for their quick response and excellent work.

The D&H Rail-Trail north of Herrick Center remains closed. The culvert has been repaired, and has been filled in. The contractor is now bringing in material to repair the trail surface (Sunday, May 31 11:30 AM). Please avoid this area.
The trail will reopen tomorrow morning Monday June 1st.
