Please come and join us the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 19:00 hours. 675 N. Main, Union City, OK 73090 (Union City Fire Department).
The Union City Police Department has operated a Law Enforcement Explorer Program for over two years. We are the only Law Enforcement Explorer Post in Canadian County and many surrounding counties.
Law Enforcement Exploring is the preeminent career orientation and experience program for young people contemplating a career in the field of criminal justice. Its mission is to offer teenagers through young adults (ages 14-20), both male and female, who are potentially interested in a career in law enforcement or criminal justice a personal awareness of all the aspects of the different career paths through training, practical experiences, and other activities.
Law Enforcement Explorer Posts are sponsored by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the country.
Law Enforcement Exploring is endorsed by numerous professional organizations, to include the International Chiefs of Police Association (IACP) and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA).
Law Enforcement Exploring is a well-established and highly respected program that has served as a platform from which countless young adults have launched a successful career with local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
We will be utilizing much of the COUNCIL ON LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION AND TRAINING (CLEET) Reserve Peace Officer Academy curriculum for training material and will host many subject matter experts for each topic to provide specific instruction to the Explorers.
The idea is to provide a similar experience and education as a cadet would receive in the police academy over the course of about twelve to fifteen months’ time.
This will provide a solid working knowledge and experience to the Explorer to assist them in determining if they are interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement.
If your child is interested in learning more or joining, please contact me via e-mail at [email protected] and we will get you all the details on how to get started.
Thank you for your support as we continue to move forward with this program in an effort to provide another avenue for positive outcomes for the youth and young adults of the community.

Tonight the Explorers did practical exercises in Crime Scene Investigation.

Last month they received lecture and demonstration from world renowned expert Everett Baxter JR.

Tonight they had the opportunity to practice these skills on two different mock crime scenes where they managed the scene, identified evidence, photographed, sketched, logged, and collected mock evidence.

This kind of training provides invaluable experience for their future career choices. These exercises build confidence that will support their choices moving forward towards a career.

If your youth 14-20 is interested in a career in Criminal Justice, we would love to visit with you about how we can help your young person learn, make informed decisions, and have a great time in the process.

We meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings at 7:00 PM.

Please come and get your questions answered.

Chief Richard Stephens.

Tonight the Explorers enjoyed a demonstration and discussion with a K9 Team from the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Baysinger and his K9 partner Bandit demonstrated Narcotics Detection, Handler Protection, Suspect Apprehension, and Subject Tracking.

The Explorers were excited to get to observe, and ask questions related to the K9 Team Career path.

Having active, subject matter experts come and demonstrate and or discuss their careers provides invaluable information and opportunities for our Explorers.

This is a great way to see the different choices available in the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement career paths.

In January we will be visiting with very a successful and experienced Crime Scene Investigator.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support of this great program and our youth.
