The Underwood Scout's would like to congratulate Mandy Almquist, one of our dedicated adult leaders with both the Troop and Pack. On completion of her Woodbadge Ticket.
Wood Badge is the premier, advanced national and international leadership training program for adult Scouting volunteers and professionals. First introduced in the United Kingdom in 1919 by Scout movement founder Robert Baden-Powell, the course focuses on advanced leadership, team-building, and organizational skills rather than basic outdoor crafts.

Two of our senior scouts have been attending NYLT leadership training this week. Topics and games center around communication, project planning, styles of leadership, using diversity to strengthen the team, and problem solving. The week long training course is presented by top youth leaders and adult mentors from around several councils in MN and ND. We are excited to welcome these scouts back home and watch them execute their skills and knowledge in our troop!

The Cubs gained insight into "Critter" awareness by experiencing how various aspects of life would change without relying on their eyesight or the use of both hands.

We have two new scouts joining our troop!
Welcome Luke and Alex to the adventure!
The scouts set up camp on Lake Traverse and held a meeting. Then, we learned first aid procedures and reviewed the first aid chapter of the handbook.
Next, we went to the river channel to try fishing. It was very windy and the fish weren’t biting.
The scouts returned to camp and cooked BLTs. We also added a few MREs (Asian beef, southwest meat tacos, and tuna casserole Meal Ready to Eat). The boys learned to use an ax, bow saw, and pocket knife safely. The scouts also practiced flint and steel fire making.
Hopefully, the fish will bite tonight at dusk.
